Kurt Cobain voicemail to Victoria Clarke 1992 {Pitch Corrected and Background Noise Reduced}

6 жыл бұрынI know this has been out since 1997, however, some people on youtube have doubts that the original voicemail was Kurt's voice, due to it being very deep and low, or others saying it's his "Heroin voice".
Now, we can hear it's neither of those things, and it is indeed Kurt in his normal talking voice .I adjusted the pitch and cleaned up the background noise.
This is the infamous recording of Kurt Cobain threatening journalist Victoria Clarke via answering machine. Clarke was in the process of writing an unofficial biography on Cobain and his wife Courtney Love. Apparently Kurt was not pleased when he heard that certain details of his personal life were going to be included in the book.

Voicemails on landlines back in the day were audible. So a person could pick up the phone OR 'screen' their calls, hear what was being said, but not pick up. Kurt is assuming she is screening.

This is the pitch corrected version. Whatever had been released previously is way deeper, slower speed that changes pitch. You can still hear his voice in that one though, but it was obviously transferred or recorded at the incorrect speed, or intentionally distorted somewhere along the line. So this isn't the version that everyone believes isn't authentic

First time hearing the voicemail recordings in it's entirety. I know kurt was pissed and serious but I couldn't help laughing at some of the shit he said. I saw an interview of this woman talking about how scared she was after listening to Kurt's messages. She said she immediately packed a bag and left town, she really believed Kurt was going to have her whacked.

Yeah, you could tell he's high. When your high you take long pauses between your sentences and your voice is deeper. Plus in interviews he talks at a normal pace. I think it's nice he was protective. I would've been pissed off too if someone did this, but I bet he regretted it later

I am the youngest of 3 girls. My oldest sister showed me and my middle sister the first nirvana album...I was....9 I think...my middle sister really like...connected with Kurt's lyrics. We all did....be hers was extra strong. My middle sister was always the most emotionally troubled. We all are barely sane...but yeah I heard it first about kurt being found dead...and I was terrified to tell my sister...it was rough. My oldest sister just sat with us and we cried for hours. Fucking awful. He I'm from Washington state....about 2 hr drive from my house. God that sucked.

It’s scary how quickly suicidal ideation can morph into a desire to hurt others. Kurt didn’t know what he was doing at this point, he was so sick. His loved ones really could have helped more, they’re the only ones who could have saved him. If he pulled a Dave Chapelle and shown back up 6 years later, we’d all have understood.

Suicidal ideation doesn't make people want to hurt others. Trauma and anger do that. I have been suicidal since I was a kid, had bad moments because of trauma, but thankfully I never did anything. As for anger, he's clearly pissed off here with reason. Sometimes, when you're mad, you say shit. Don't spread misinformation, there is enough stigma against depression.

I recall this being published in Q Magazine (from memory) back in the day. These "ladies" had also gone through his wheelie bin looking for syringes etc in order to vilify Courtney for using drugs while Frances was a baby. I'd only read the transcript until now. William they’re sexist. Never mind all the times people close to the Cobains recall Courtney hitting and being very abusive towards him. She even had a history of violence prior to them getting together or even meeting for that matter. They just want to talk about the ONE time a guy reacts, not the 50 million he sits back and takes it. Now that being said, I don’t condone the abuse of women. But I also don’t condone the abuse of ANYONE. They don’t realize that not every time a man hits a woman is it a malicious act. It’s often self-defense because women especially here in America, grow up being taught that men aren’t allowed to retaliate, so they feel they have a get out of jail free card on the physical abuse side of things.

My flatmate, that always gave out her number too freely, had caught us a guy like that. He called our flat for several weeks after midnight and got three women wide awake and wondering who had called whom, and who of our co-workers and exes was the troll. You don't know what they're up to, especially when you don't know who it is. It luckily stopped, when I started reading 'The Hobbit' into the phone, whenever I answered the calls (always the first chapter, so he probably got bored). "In a hole in the ground there lived a Hobbit..."
