I can't seem to get over this show, but having read other comments I feel better that it's not just me. Still can't understand. I read the book hoping to give myself some closure, but it didn't help. As soon as the book , "Shura", is translated I would love to read it. Her heartbreak was devastating for me. I am also sad for Seyit because his decision changed him as a person forever. For me, he wasn't the same amazing man without that "other half", Sura. Sad.

Same here, I lost my admiration for Sayit the Wolf when he rush to marry another woman whereas he never attempted to marry Shura even if they live together for a long period of time.

I watched this series twice because I had a similar story with a Muslim guy from Iraq. His family was killed under the Saddam regime and they moved to Europe. I acted exactly the same way as Sura in the movie and our relationship ended. I moved to France and after I came to the United States. His father pushed him to married to a Muslim girl but he never loved her. This movie touched my heart deeply.

Marcia Kritsberg I agree. He sought desperately to live up to the hopes of his father that he broke his own heart. The sadder thing is that his father, being now an angel in heaven and knowing all things, would have embraced her and given his blessings. Love brings us together and is blind to the many things that make us different.

I was very disappointed that this series ended in a sad note. I was addicted watching this series hoping that they were going to get back together after all that they went through. There was so many good actors & loved Kurt Seyit & Sura. They made a Beautiful couple. I just finished watching it I would have loved more episodes.

O my god, I was the same couldn't wait to get back from work and have my dinner and lock myself in my room and watch the series. I have to say I was devastated. He didn't marry shura.

This is quite an amazing story and it touches everyone's heart. Every human being yearns for the kind of love that Seyit & Shura felt for each other ! every human being wants to find their sould mate ! a very rare thing. The whole world is looking for it. It is amazing to see the two people actually found it...and YET the circumstances of war, family duty & expectations got in the way. The only consolation is that now, they are together in heaven: at last !

I bought the book from Amazon and am enjoying it very much and I was a huge fan of the Netflix series (the best show I have seen on that venue). Imagine my delight when I realized that I had a signed copy of Kurt Seyit. .. I was thrilled! Thank you so much for yourself, Nermin, you are a charming and delightful person and a true historian., My husband shares my appreciation in your ability to separate your loyalty to your family and appreciate the true love that Seyit and Shura shared, while not negating the love he also felt for your grandmother.

Completely obsessed with the show on Netflix and decided to incorporate it into my Russian history assignment (so I didn't feel guilty watching it). Then I found out that it is a true story and have fallen more in love with it! Will definitely be reading it once I get back from my exchange. Each episode has me in tears!! Thank you so much for sharing their amazing story with the world and also for depicting the time in a true manner! also well done to whoever cast the show!!!! Their connection is insane

I'm from Malaysia but I have the chance of watching this amazing love series via Netflix n after finished watching the series I' still find it very hard to pull myself out of the amazing love depicted by the author !

First I would just like to say how lovely you and your daughter are!. And thank you again for sharing your family's story I feel that we all have one book in us maybe not as interesting as some but it's our story. I'm very happy that Netflix picked up this series so that we here in Canada and the U.S have been able to enjoy your grandparents culture and traditions , their joys and their heartbreaks it certainly has shown that no matter where you live, love and sorrows , and our joys are very much the same . Sincerely hope that there will be more books translated to English and possibly another series to complete the story of Seyit ,Shura and Murka.😊

I know I can’t believe they took it off I could watch it over and over ,I read the book to and read as much info as I could about them .The story had a real affect on me ,I love history and real life stories ,I was heartbroken for them both but it was a very turbulent time and he felt he was letting his father down as he wanted him to Marry a Turkish Muslim girl due to his culture .I hope they bring it back on soon .

Beautiful love story between Seyit and Sura, truly believe they were soulmates but lost interest towards the end in Istanbul .. curious to the level of bias too being narrated by his wife and her narrow minded perspective. There should be a recollection of the interview between Sura’s sister and author so people can make their own conclusions.

This is the first movie series that I watch on Netflix .Kurt and Sura once I started looking I couldn't stop the struggles where real and there love was too.I hated Petro how evil can one person be.I do think that it was a bit long.I am in love the the Turkish movies and the actors. I am in the middle of watching this epic series. Wow. I simply cannot wait to read the book. For your reference, I an American female who has lived in and traveled to Europe. My favorite place I ever visited was Turkey (Istanbul, Goreme, Izmir and Ephesus) and my interest as an historian has always been Imperial Russia and its demise. Absolutely fascinating story. I'm currently doing an essay on how movies represent Russia from 1900-1920...from the tv show perspective, what inaccuracies did you pinpoint? even if it's bias or tension...And what accuracies stood out for you...ie the recognition of the rural people, and allied communities instead of solely focusing on the bourgeoisie POV ie how the rebels were the cause for the end of the great Russia (like Nicholas and Alexandra had portrayed)! This is my first time doing a Russian topic so would love to hear your point of view!

I couldn't understand the reason that why did they breakup? As far I know story of series is completely different from book, many characters like Baroness, Petro and Celil were never able to reach in Istanbul. Then what was the main reason of their separation? Why didn't they marry even they lived almost seven years together? waiting for an answer......

Would love to know what happened to Surra. Seyit acted in disheartening manner. Couldn't digest how he acted with Mervit proving himself the best husband ever. But who would tell me about Sura. How she managed to live after such deep involvement and how she passed away. Did she marry??? Did she find a good husband??? Did she have a peaceful end??? How could she forgive someone like Seyit. Seyet was not a wolf but a product of his needs and ego

Whay Seyit felt and thought, nobody knows. The suucide was not for his disease, I am an MD and Tuberculisis do not give pain like cancer or others, neither you get the disease from gcold weather, is a bacillus and contagious. Maybe he eas unhappy, lonely, frustrated, who knows??? Wewill never know, or realized his mistake if not marrying Shura as he should. Sad for both but now they are together, I beleive

I read that the villain petro, Billy and Lola baroness was all fabricated into the story to make it more exciting. I also read that sura marrys a guy and they lived happy but tough times. I don't know about the rest of your questions though. By the way When I finished the TV show I felt the need to talk to somebody about it because it was shocking

Sura married and moved to US,she had happy life and seyit suicide caused he had TBC and bankrupt but they still contact until he died and sura came the funeral

Importante, esta fue una historia de la vida real contada por la nieta de Seyit, la contó Murca. Pero dentro de lo que ame del libro que escribió la nieta de Seyit es que, Sura y Seyit se siguieron escribiendo, él se suicido al caer en desgracia y que Murca debiera trabajar para mantener su hogar, ya que estab muy enfermo a la semana llego Sura a Estambul, la pregunta es, acaso Seyit sabia que Sura vendria a Estambul y prefirio el suicidio a que lo viera mal?. En una oportunidad Sura estuvo enferma, y Seyit le contó a Murca, esta última digo que fuese y Seyit, respondió "Estas segura, es probable que no regrese", Murca no comprendia si Sura estaba muriendo, porque Seyit no volvería y es que por ese tiempo Sura estaba saliendo del hospital, separandose y partiendo a América, es decir, él lo sabia y quizás de ir, jamás se hubiese suicidado y hubiesen vivido juntos.

Eu fiquei muito decepcionada, a história de amor só quem viveu foi a Sura. Quando ela viu o Seyit na casa da baronesa ele exigiu confiança incondicional, quando ela a viu com o rapaz que ele não sabia ser o primo, depois do trauma de ser deixada de noiva no casamento, após anos sem ele se manifestar pra casar, ele teve um ataque histérico e dormiu mesmo com a primeira que encontrou pela frente. Além de ter casado com uma menina completamente inocente, submissa e moldável a ele!! Me poupe!! Egoísta e mesquinho, isso é o que ele era, pelo menos na série televisiva!!

Yet again the incidental music ruining the first part of the interview . I like the music but I felt it was overpowering and dominated the series too much . Sadly the repetition of the music became tiresome to irritating. The other unfortunate thing for me about the series was the inaccuracy of the period costumes, hair and make-up. I myself, I would have loved the series to be much more faithful to the book. Like you say yourself, you didn’t want it to be a “children’s story “ Sadly I think the series went down this route and oversimplified . Being bilingual I found the translation surprising bad and inaccurate. Which is such a shame... Sorry to have focused on the negative , only because I love the story so much, I want to do it justice . Thank you so much Nermin !

I am also addicted to this series that I started watching this in the US and I am watching again while on vacation in Australia All of the cast are very good but Kivac is so good.His eyes captures all his emotions.He is one of the best in the world.Keep going.
