In this video, we learn about the definition of kurtosis and it types.
Kurtosis in simple term is simply the measure of how peaked and heavy or light the tails of a distribution is.
There are basically 3 types of kurtosis
Mesokurtic
leptokurtic
Platykurtic

But the beta(.5,1) distribution is infinitely peaked and has kurtosis less than 3; ie, it is not flat.

Hi, Mr Westfall I am happy you watched and commented on my video. So the main reason why the beta function (0.5, 1) is platykurtic even though it has an infinite peak is simply because the extreme values are lesser than that of a normal distribution. Please note that in this case we are assuming a symmetric beta function. I am open to learn also and have more conversations like this....Thanks for commenting once again.
