Eigentlich hat es genau das. Allein die Tatsache, dass diese Sprache nicht entstanden ist, sondern geplant und erschaffen worden ist von einer Person. Und das aus einem bestimmten Grund. Es ist eine Sprache die zum Leben erwachte.

Originally, the I and J were just two ways to write one and the same letter, as were the U and the V. In fact, in Ancient Rome, the god Jupiter's name was written ɪᴠᴘɪᴛᴇʀ and pronounced yoo-pee-ter. And Julius Caesar's name (ɪᴠʟɪᴠs) was pronounced yoo-lee-oos. Then later, a lot of words with Y-sounds in most Romance languages (e.g. Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian) changed their pronunciation, at which point people started using the J for the consonants, and the I for the vowels. But there are many languages that still pronounce the J like the English Y, including most Germanic languages (German, Dutch, Afrikaans, Icelandic, Swedish, Danish and Norwegian) and Slavic Uralic languages that don't use the Cryllic alphabet (Hungarian, Finnish, Estonian, Polish, Czech, Serbian, Slovak, Croatian, Latvian and Lithuanian) The International Phonetic Alphabet used by most linguists worldwide also writes the Y-sound as [ j ]. By contrast, English, Spanish and French all have different pronunciations of the letter. I think languages using the Y-sound probably outnumber those of every other pronunciation of the letter.

pokemon3335 I was not offended, sorry for overreacting. I do understand the J sounding like a Y must sound very strange if you're not used to it, but I just wanted to let you know it's more common that you probably think. And then I started nerding out about linguistics. :P

+pokemon3335 I think it's likely an issue of terminology. Saying that "it sounds wrong to me" is misleading. In Esperanto, as in some other languages, the 'J' is pronounced like 'Y'. I think what you probably meant, however, was the it sounds "weird/different" to you. You can't really say "it sounds wrong to me" because that implies that I, or my actors, have made a mistake in your opinion, when in fact it's more just a case of you not being used to the sound. Not trying to cause any arguments, just wanting to clarify why +Raizin was so quick to defend the pronunciation, as like I said, it sounds as though you are trying to correct a mistake, rather than point out something you are not comfortable with. :)

***** umm it's over but ,that's my opinion as you can obviously see but this is the internet so it shouldn't matter the usage,of what word i should, and should,not use there ,isn't like a word police that watches over each and every person and when they catch, that person using the wrong word ,they send them,back to elementary ,school no there's nothing like that so why are you wasting your time?
