Today I am going to take you guys from Kurunegala to Trincomalee on Yal Devi Express train.
🌟 This is a train that has been running for a period of 6 months from 07/01/2024 Due to the Northern Railway line development project happening between Maho & Anuradhapura.
Departure time from Colombo Fort:- 5.45 AM Daily.
Departure time from Trincomalee :- 12.15 PM Daily.
Up train number:- 77
Down train number :- 78
Reserved ticket prices:-
💠 Second Class:- 1800 LKR (From Colombo), 1200 LKR (From Kurunegala).
⭐ First Class:- 2900 LKR (From Colombo), 2000 LKR (From Kurunegala).
Non Reserved Ticket Prices to Trincomalee :-
🔷 2nd Class :- 950 LKR (From Colombo), 700 LKR (From Kurunegala).
🔶 3rd Class :- 460 LKR (From Colombo), 350 LKR (From Kurunegala), 300 LKR (From Maho Junction).
Colombo to Trincomalee this train journey is a very beautiful one & you can enjoy the dry zone green beauty with mountain views. This Colombo to Trincomalee journey takes about 7 hours.

Looks like it’s mostly empty since UD is also operating in this line with a connection to Trinco, are there enough passengers for 2 day trains? Looks like a waste of resources.

It is even more wasteful to send only to the Maho due to track rehabilitation project. Udaya devi Galoya - Trinco connection is also operating for Udaya Devi.
