I like how Roglic was honest, he wanted to have a chance to win. JV he might be happy for Sepp but if he doesn't win vuelta in his career he might regret it. He was the strongest he could say I want to race and probably win. it's not like he will have hundreds of chances to win vuelta, he missed 1 out of 5-6 maybe.

You think? Acctually it was Jonas who started all of this mess in the previous stages. On Angliru I believe Roglic only went for stage win, there was no way he would have borught in 1:30 on Kuss, Jonas however was again the problem being only 0:29 down in GC. Had he waitied with Sepp insted on holding Roglic wheel, there wouldnt be any panic in the first place. And this Vuelta and how it was handled by Jumbo staff is the reason Roglic "jumped ship", as you put it.

Jumbo looked like a heartless, spoiled and selfish team... The Vuelta was a lock, so then why attack your rider? You should be all into protect your leader at all costs. But instead you're attacking him...even the team could tell it didn't feel right, so then why do it? This looked like a team devoid of true leadership that was scared of their top riders. Especially everything Sepp did for them? This was how you plan to repay him? This is also a team that was desperately looking for new sponsorship, and this is the type of team culture you show them? What a 🤡 show.

It's not "they." It's only Jonas, and it was his choice before management showed up. Roglic could not have never beaten Jonas, and that's it. It was Jonas's gift to give, and he gave it. I wonder why that upsets some of his fans. Separately, if Roglic fans are honest with themselves, they'll realize he wouldn't have beaten Kuss either at that point. No stage 6, of course Roglic beats Kuss, but after Angliru, Roglic wasn't going to find another 1:15

It's exactly the opposite. Everyone - fans, teams, riders - have the full right to decide that someone should be helped and allowed to win based on who they are as a personality, how many wins they have enabled for their leaders as a domestique over the years, and what effort they are making in comparison to their ability, just as much as others have the right to only use the "real top rider" metric based on power meters or whatever.

Sepp is a nice guy and a decent rider, but on no other team in the world would he ever even come close to winning a GT. He does not have that amount of talent, or even anything close to it. He's still with the team because to leave it would mean consigning himself to utter mediocrity for the rest of his career. @@jmsytbe The team car was beyond stupid. They took the winner of the Giro & the winner of the Tour in the same team... & then grossly overestimated Evenepoel. His 2024 season so far has been utter trash, yet he's still out there talking like he's a legit GC favorite. Sepp is a good rider, and a likable guy, but letting the Twitter outrage mob literally decide a GT and gift what should be one of the great honors of sports to a rider of his caliber has tarnished the sport of cycling permanently. It's more similar to pro wrestling than real sports now. Even the age of doping did not demean and degrade the sport as much as this, because at least all that doping was done in the pursuit of victory by all means. Devaluing the very concept of victory in sports, for the sake of soap opera storylines and American PR points, is much, MUCH worse than that.

This was about JV winning three GTs in one season by three different riders AND the same three riders on the podium at the end of this race. Not a record to be broken any time soon, if ever. Plugge and the major sponsors had to be thinking about the PR and he and told the DS to make sure Kuss won. That was my thought at the time. After watching this I'm not sure since I couldn't understand what was being said by Zeeman and anyone else not speaking english. It looked like Grischa didn't agree with what was happening but had to follow orders. I hope this will be put out with english subtitles so I can watch it again and understand everything being said.

Rewarding sportsmanship, respect and effort by supporting your domestique to win does the opposite of "devaluing" things - it shows how some sports enable demonstrations that there are things that are more important than power meters, pedal stroke stats and even sports itself. Just like GC leaders are not attacked by teammates when they are struggling, the fans made their feelings know that Kuss, as the GC leader, should be extended the same treatment he had offered for years to enable GT wins for Roglic and Vingegaard. This ridiculous clownery of insane hyperbolissation of what happened at the Vuelta only speaks about its author, their complete inability to involve balance and nuance in their claims, and their deranged views on values in life.

It's real helpsome too, having a rep of being just a nice boy who just likes to ride his bike gosh darnit, when you're riding for THAT team, run by THOSE people. Keeps people from asking questions that a less likable rider in his position would be bombarded with.
