That spinnerbait now falls in second place behind. KVD'S 1.5 Sexy Shad Square bill crankbait. Then the Z Man's original Chatterbait with White and CHARTREUSE skirt and a White fluke trailer upside down with the split tail dyed CHARTREUSE with garlic. That's the top three baits from 2020. For me! Oh, The Whopper Plopper 90 size in I'm it color too for Topwater. Who knows what it will be in 2021. Shawn.

Amazing how one of the oldest baits in fishing can still produce bass time and time again especially when you use some of these tips and change your presentation like this. KVD is the spinnerbait king

Not amazing, just not over-thought like most people are doing these days when it comes to lure selection. These four baits will ALWAYS win tournaments: 1. Jig 2. Spinnerbait 3. Worm 4. Crankbait Any time of year, any body of wather with bass in it, all four of these baits should put four fish in the tank, if presented normally. When the bite gets tough, modify the presentation, color, weight, line size…..so many different things can be done before actually working the bait differently. I NEVER go fishing in my boat or yak without all four of these laid out on deck. I will have other baits, but these four will always get wet.

i started doing this a long time ago without even knowing this video existed. I would fish at a local golf course pond south of Atlanta Gerogia and was gettin bit by fire ants so i burned it through some weeds to deal with the situation and a 5 pounder swung so hard at it. from then on I started burning blades catching them left and right. I guess all it takes is some different trial and error or misfortune of ant bites lol

My favorite lure to use. I've caught great bass, pickerel, pike and even larger perch on a Spinnerbait. I rarely ever have to use anything else on a good day.

Great information thx David Dudley. Heading to Dale Hollow Lake here in Tennessee in a couple of weeks with my youngest son who just got out of navy 6yrs. He’s ready for some smallmouth, he’s never caught one. I appreciate you sharing you knowledge. You kind don’t come around very often! Thx👍🥸🙏

A 5/8oz white/chartreuse skirt, double willowleaf blade one copper one chrome with a small trailer hook is my all time go to confidence bait. There are so many different ways you can cast and work a spinnerbait back, theres a reason its been around as long as it has.

Great tips. Change retrieve speed Give fish a chance to see bait but not too much. Keep bait above the fish. I'll try to use these tips next time I'm out fishing

Seem like the only thing I've caught with spinners is anything but fish. I'll give them a try but I've hated them so far. The same goes with cranks.

Rez I used to feel the same way, but both cranks and spinners work real well at times, I now like both of them though I lean more towards cranks. grant it soft plastics and jigs are still my number 1.

The rule of thumb is always use one unless cover like grass or wood is constantly fouling your hook. If cover isn't an issue, you'll greatly increase your hooking percentage using a trailer. Here's another good video on the subject: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/grJ0d9SE2Z_eiqM.html

you can use braid with a 12-17 pound fluro/mono leader too, i've also had luck with straight braid if that's all you have

What lb. test line would you recommend for spinnerbaits?

17-20 pound test for fluorocarbon/monofilament or 40-50 pound braided line.

Depends where and what youre throwing the spinnerbait at and around. If youre trying to hit wood/rock go with a higher lb flouro or braid w flouro leader. If youre just straight fishing one in open water you can get away with lighter line but always go off the guage or thickness of the hook.

How do you know when to set the hook?

Spinnerbait strikes are often pretty intense so a smash strike is one way to know when to jack 'em. Often times though, the lure just kinda disappears, meaning you no longer feel the pull/weight of the lure. This happens when a bass comes up behind the spinnerbait and just inhales it. In general, anytime you feel a change to a clean running spinnerbait, set the hook!

I dont know how to feel about quantum, they have a bad reputation and I see a lot of there reels busted at retail stores. But, my 50 dollar cast everybit as far if not more effortless than my tatula. idk should I invest in a smoke baitcaster?

I wished I could find those spinner baits. All of the store around me, not one of them have a single one, nor do they even carry it. Years ago, I used to be able to find the double willow leaf spinner baits, but they are like hens teeth to find this year.

If you fish like i do, you know the smaller and less stuff the better. I’ve added a photo of just some of my gear so you can see how serious i am about fishing.

Why are right handed people using reels with right side retrieve? Wasted to swish hand, rod stay in the right hand all the time and we use left for retrieving.

Oddmund Dale I'm right handed bu I retreive with my left hand, I like to have better contro of my rod by having on my right hand. I also have a right hand retreive reel but it doesn't feel natural; it feels like eating with my left hand.
