Kwv txhiaj has it's own structure. There has to be an opening regarding who you are talking to. I'll use this song for example. I wrote the lyrics in Hmoob Dawb, but I'll use Hmoob Lees for this example. "Ntuj tag ncua taav nuav nuj sua luag tub"... this part is the opening and it is referring to the "nuj sua luag tub" (a sua/suav/foreign boy). ""Ntuj tag ncua taav nuav" is the opening. Kwv txhiaj is often like a poem usually sung in a question, and answer form. It has to rhyme, and it is it tends to be more secretive than directive, but it's not always the case. What I mean is that they often may talk about anything like the flowers, heavens, rain, birds, plants, embroidery, and etc. to help use to emphasize what the person is talking regarding the situation (this is not always the case depending on your subject). In this song the lady said "los nag es tej paj xyoob yuav los zoo nthuav" is a part expressing a good happy, or positive vibe moment during when she is with the "nuj sua luag tub" which is why the "flowers blooms well" for example Depending on which group you are from, that's how it is usually like. Hmoob Lees in the lower parts of China, and among southeast Asia would start like "Ca, Ca es, ca hauv es" etc., then you can add in "txiv leej tub / nam leej ntxhais" and Hmoob Dawb among usually is "Nyias nyes es, niam yauv es" etc. then you can add in "txiv leej tub / niam leej ntxhais." Different Hmong groups will have different terms of referring to the boy, and the girl, so just listen to it carefully. Remember that most openings don't have any meaning, but it is just start off a kwv txhiaj. The more you listen, the more you will have a more basic understanding of kwv txhiaj. This is how most of our brothers and sisters from China compose their kwv txhiaj with instrumental music, or what I call "pop kwv txhiaj" songs. The best way to start singing a good kwv txhiaj is by listening to lots of kwv txhiaj, and actually understand Hmong vocabularies very well. This is the most basic information of composing a kwv txhiaj from my understanding. I hope it helps you.

When it comes to folk songs focusing on love in the Hmong culture, the men and women tend to sing of nature and also compare their relationships with their beloved to nature with poetic verses.
