My 2021 kx100 is still holding up solid but then again i don’t have an hour meter and got it back on December 27th 2021. It’s taken a few wrecks but no rebuilds or major maintenance issues at all love the 💯

Well I just bought a new tusk kick starter actually. The kx are kinda known for cheaper softer kick starters so keep that in mind. I got an all black tusk kicker now it’s much stronger

Yeah they're great little bikes for sure, at this point it's over 100 hours I filmed this a little while ago. I want to do a piston but at this point I almost wanna wait and see how long it will go lol and I have yet to have an issue with my kick starter, it did come loose like 50 hours in as well as the brake and shifter bolts but aside from that it's been pretty good. Frequent Oil changes and air filters are the biggest reasons they'll last

@@Adaptive_riding I was thinking the same about the piston.. I might do it this winter w the downtime or wait till early spring. It’ll last a lifetime if u do the simple maintenance work and I honestly never plan on selling mine it’s so fun

@@jaheimjefferson9781 yeah that was my thought process too,it's to cold to ride for the next few months so I could do it now while it's just sitting there, but again it's kind of a game at this point to see how long it'll last lol I may just get a new head gasket and pull the head off and inspect everything to see if it looks ok still and if it does I'll probably run it

I love my kx100. Its a different animal than my 300rr but just as fun. The light weight and low seat height is great on my old, rusty joints. Especially when having to pick the bike up off the ground. It doesnt have as good of lugging around ability the 300 has but thats to be expected from such a small displacement. I know a flywheel weight would help with that. Procircuit makes a powervalve that frees up alot more bottom to mid power as well. Parts are ridiculously cheap for the kx also!

yeah I really like it, my only real complaint is obviously the wheel size is smaller than a full size bike which makes going over obstacles annoying but I guess that’s the price you pay to have a really light bike🤷‍♂️ I really want to try a YZ125X and maybe lower it like an inch, that might be the best of both worlds

Great video gives me confidence in mine. I have 5-6 hours on a brand new top end, water pump, reeds etc. I just got it plated and everyone swears you’ll blow a 2 stroke up before you even think about it riding it on the street. Did you ever back roads ride yours?

just run a high quality two-stroke mix and don't live in the high RPMs and it'll last you awhile and yeah mine sees plenty of cruising around like that because we always jump from trail to trail to go as far as we do which requires some dirt road shenanigans, if you're primarily using yours for the street just gear it up some that way you can do the speeds you want to without revving it way out

I love my KX100.. it's great for nice slow riding, it's great for ripping it up, it's just a fantastic bike. I'm having float needle issues, but that's just crap that got in my tank.

yeah they're great little bikes that's for sure, and yeah mine had some carb issues in the beginning but that was because the way the dealer set it up which is why I didn't mention it because it's not like every one of them has that issue, my float height was way off causing it to over fuel and be boggy and fouled spark plugs. for your issue I would just drain all the gas,rinse the tank out then clean the carburetor real quick and you'll be good. that's all pretty easy stuff to do🤘

@@Adaptive_riding yea I put a fuel filter on it, that helped. Adjusted fuel level, but after an hour of riding it started over flowing again. I'll get a new needle and get it all fixed up. Ride safe.

for tight low speed stuff I run 40 to 1, if I know we're going to be in higher speed more wide-open conditions I run closer to 32 to 1 🤙 and I've been using yamalube 2s mix

I've got almost 200 on my 2019 doing Enduro riding. I use dominator oil and never had a problem

yeah mines now up near that many hours as well with no issues, and I just use Kawasaki semi synthetic crank case oil and for the two-stroke mix i use Yamalube 2S

@Adaptive_riding I bought mine for the same reason you did I didn't have KTM money and it truly the best bang for the buck I paid 4700 out the door in 2019 and used bikes weren't worth the money and still aren't

Hey, happy I found your video! I'm looking for a 2 strokes. I'm currently riding a KTM 4 stroke but I want to jump in the 2 stroke world. I'm a beginner and I mostly do trail riding, I want to learn to go over obstacles, I want something light, etc. I feel this bike could be a good option. I'm 5'5" and 140pounds, do you think it'd be too small? Thanks!

Thanks for the view man! And I love my Kx, im 5'10 145 lbs and it's slightly on the smaller side for me but for the type of riding we like to do it's great, it should fit you pretty good as well I would just go sit on one to make sure🤘

Trade it in for the KTM 150 2 stroke. Then you'd still be riding a KTM.

100 hours is bout max hours you'd want to put on a piston. Especially a 2 stroke because they don't run as clean as a 4 stroke. The issue is the wearing of the piston skirt coating. Most 2 stroke riders change piston out around 40 to 50 hours or sooner depending on how hard the bike is ridden.

Well it's at like 150 plus hours now with no issues,good premix,engine oil and maintenance goes a long way

@@Adaptive_riding Are you going to ride it til it finally grenades the piston? Have you done a recent compression test? When compression goes down say 10 pounds from when new I'd change it out. If you're not a penny pincher go with a Wossner forged piston when you do freshen up the top end.

Do you run 40:1? I have the yamalube 2R oil you think thats better for trail and desert riding. Mostly low-mid and a little bit high speed.

I run 40:1 for low/mid rpm range then 32:1 for high rpm days.and 2s or 2r are both great,the only reason I bought 2s over the 2r was because there was a big sale on the gallon jug of it

Nope she's all stock, that is something I've debated on getting but I do like how snappy it is when I want it to be so I'm not sure what I want to do, it kind of just works well the way it is so not sure if I'm going to change it haha

Like I always say slight preventative maintenance goes a long way,I'm also not beating the crap out of it constantly either, don't get me wrong it sees it's fair share of high rpm situation's but she's holding up well
