“The Birth” (Episode 1)
*A Japanese space shuttle is sent to explore the planet Nemesis, where the astronauts inadvertently release the evil witch Bandora, who was sealed away 170 million years ago. With Bandora free, the sage Barza summons the legendary heroes known as the Zyurangers to defeat her.
Synopsis:
Five young warriors from an ancient civilization of dinosaur-evolved humans (恐竜人類, Kyōryū Jinrui) awaken in the present day after 170 million years when their enemy, Bandora the Witch, is released by two astronauts on Planet Nemesis. These warriors, the Zyurangers, must summon their Guardian Beasts, mechanical deities modeled after prehistoric creatures, to protect mankind from Bandora's evil. A sixth warrior, Burai the Dragon Ranger, later joins the conflict between the Zyurangers and Bandora's forces.

From Japan, we would like to return the gratitude and respect you have shown to the Super Sentai. Zyuranger was born from the huge success of the novel Jurassic Park and the announcement of the movie production by Spielberg. I could not have imagined that it would become an iconic presence for North American children when I was a child at the time. I am also happy that you liked Bandora, one of the best performances by Machiko Soga, the queen of Japanese toku, whom we love so much. Her career and humanity were wonderful, and even after her death, she continues to be our great queen. Sorry for my poor English because I used Google Translate. I am looking forward to seeing your reactions to the Dragon Ranger episode, the origin of the Green Ranger.

Actually, thanks to Japan for create this amazing show. More than a show, it’s a true legacy. I grew up with Power Rangers, but once I learned about Super Sentai, I immediately fell in love with the concept. Thank you to all you beautiful people for bringing so much joy and happiness to me and to all the people.

@@mikeyvent9712 Thank you too. We Japanese have also shared in the legacy. Without American heroes, Japanese heroes may not have been what they are today. Eiji Tsuburaya, the creator of Godzilla and Ultraman, was such a big fan that when he explained his vision to the actors who would appear in the first Godzilla film, he had them watch an 8mm film of King Kong and said, "Everything I wanted to do is contained in this." The reason why the first enemy of the original Kamen Rider was based on a spider and a bat is because the creators were passionate about creating a hero who would surpass Spider-Man and Batman. Thanks to Stan Lee's cherishing his friendship with Toei, we can be proud of our own country's Spider-Man with his Megazord, and the Silver Surfer project, which was carried out at the same time, produced Space Sheriff Gavan after many twists and turns. Gavan became Robocop in America, and Robocop returned to Japan to become Mobile Police Jiban.

The reason the bikes were never used in PR is because (contrary to the opening sequence), the Zyurangers only used them in their civilian forms.

One thing that is consider actor jokes is Geki was a Kamen Rider before, and Zyurangerbis the only Sentai That their morpher is design to look like Rider belt *cause at that time, Kamen Rider got long Hiatus until 2000 with Kuuga

Boi's actor was also a child actor in Jiraiya, so he also did Metal Heroes. Given that Burai's actor was in another Sentai before; this cast was a pretty neat convergence of people.

Another gritty sentai is "hikari sentai maskman" And "Fiveman" & "Jetman" Love those shows growin up. 🙌🏻

This first episode is a bit hectic, but this season is a lot of fun. We're gonna have things a lot better paced in future episodes. There are a few episodes that are definetly going to get you pumped. The Green Ranger arc in this is wild. So; fun fact: All 5 heroes name their tribes. All 5 tribes reference countries. Yamato, red's, is for Japan (Yamato was an old name for Japan at one point). Black's, Sharma, is an hindi name. Blue's, Ettofe, is a french word. Yellow's Dime is likely greek and Pink's Rishiya is likely Lishao in China. Not the first or last time where every ranger seems to have originated from a different country in spite of all being Japanese.

It's cool that this Sentai Season was the 1st to be adapted into Power Rangers, but it wasn't the 1st Saban tried to adapt. Prior to this Season, Saban tried adapting Sun Vulcan, Bioman, Liveman, & Jetman into Power Rangers, but all of those failed while Zyuranger was the 1 that proved successful.

Slight correction, Saban didnt tried to adapt Sun Vulcan, Stan Lee was the one who tried. Also, for those who want to see what the Bioman adaptation would have looked like, the Pilot trailer can be found on youtube (basically, except for Jason who was known as Victor back then, they used the same names and Color Designations tha woulf later be used for MMPR, the difference being Zack would have been Green due to Bioman not having a black ranger)

Good now you'll see the truth that our power rangers in usa is just a watered down colonized version of this great super sentai series. even though you're saying Rita and Goldar and Putties now eventually that will wear off and you'll see how excellent sentai is. some really mature themes and topics are dealt with in zyuranger

If you're a nineties kid, perhaps (but that's probably childhood nostalgia talking). If you were a parent of nineties kids (as I was), not so much. Even with the death and violence, I would've preferred that my own kids had watched Super Sentai, just as they also watched 60s-80s Doctor Who, Godzilla movies, and subtitled anime (where possible). Why? Because of the characters, storylines and drama of the Sentai series in comparison to MMPR, and because it exposes young minds to other cultures' forms of drama and storytelling conventions. And because my wife and I used to teach a myth and storytelling class to gifted youngsters, and there are mythic elements to the narratives of shows like Zyuranger and Kakuranger that would've supplemented those classes well, had we had access to those shows then.

I agree for music and characters of MMPR. Go Go Power Rangers! However, MMPR, outside of those elements, did not age well with me and there were so many "fillerish" stuff. As for Zyuranger, my first Super Sentai, well, it's a good thing I watched this as my "starter" season since compared to other Super Sentai seasons, Zyuranger is not as good as any other Super Sentai seasons I watched/completed so far (I wasn't a fan of the children-of-the-week stuff but it has an interesting background/worldbuilding). But yeah, both are overrated for me in ways, but not terrible.

1993's Mighty Morphin Power Rangers was based on 1992's Zyuranger. 2002's Power Rangers Wild Force was based on 2001's Gaoranger. Super Sentai likes to cycle around to reusing teams based on Dinosaurs, Wild Animals, Fast Cars, and Ninjas, so it's sometimes easy to get confused on which specific-themed Power Rangers team was based on which particular Sentai team, especially when relying upon childhood memories. Basically, with a few exceptions, each season's Power Rangers team was based on footage from the previous year's Sentai team whose episodes had just wrapped up in Japan. 1993's Dairanger wasn't adapted. And 2012's Go-Busters was skipped for seven years until it became 2019-2020's Beast Morphers.
