ℹ️ About the episode:
The new bus has a CAT 3208 engine. We smile nearly every time it fires up; it smells like childhood. Like Bunny said, the bus is built for comfort. She takes some time to get up to speed-but when she gets there, she can go all day long. But when she hits the hills, cancel your plans! We called the Biltmore Estate to ask if we could arrive after our scheduled tour time with no luck, so we ended up moving our tour to the following day. The visit was worth it. Caleb has seen bigger, but most adults would agree that the Biltmore Estate is as grand as it is stunning! Below are some tips to help you make the most of your visit. Pack a picnic and plan to spend a full day at the Biltmore, George Vanderbilt’s historic country estate. There’s a TON to see here, so come prepared to stay all day. You can tour the house (okay-mansion) itself, plus gardens, a winery, Antler Hill Village, a historic farm, and miles of walking, biking, and hiking trails. There’s even a proper steakhouse for dinner cooked over an open flame.

I used to live in GA and both Helen, GA and Highlands, NC are wonderful. Helen has a great inner tubing activity to do that’s super fun. Great waterfall hikes too. Adorable town and very quaint. Highlands, NC is amazing and has lots of fun places to eat that are off the charts delicious-very foodie and lots of shops and beautiful hikes. They have a little winding calm water way that you can canoe on or take a paddle boat to that has a waterfall coming out of the house itself. Super beautiful. Depending on how you drive up - one side has 7 cascading waterfalls as you drive up and the other side has beautiful skyline views to stop and check out. The town of Highlands is at the top. We definitely want to go back there. It’s magical.

My wife and I have been full time for 3 years and agree you can save money by planning ahead, During the time we have been full time we have Workamped for our site during the summer months so that saves us a bunch in site fees. However the time that we are not working camping and traveling I plan ahead by at least 6 months, we can stay at Corp of Engineer parks for half price so by reserving that far ahead we can get into some parks that if you wait we couldn't, same goes for some state parks and private parks. Our first year we found out that if you are going south for the winter then you better reserve a year in advance if staying for more than a week or so. Enjoy your videos and like the new RV!! BTW, I was watching your videos before we ever bought our first RV and went full time, and purchased the Hensley because of your influence with the videos.

We did the mountains out of Utah with a very overloaded 40ft RV. Barely made it up each mountain and overheated so we had to stop and let it cool. Try driving the 40ft RV with a car in to DC on Friday 5pm in the rain. Never again and this is where we decided to stop by 3pm no matter what. We’ve learnt so much including if you live in the RV full time u don’t need to have everything with u 😂😂. 🇨🇦🇦🇺🦘

Well, we finally watched! 😅 The last time we stayed in Asheville, we were at the KOA West. I was meeting up with a guy who had some beautiful sycamore slabs I was picking up for a table build. I was super happy with the location of that KOA, there was an awesome local market/store that had all kinds of goodies, a lot of the products were local. I love going to small places like that, and supporting the small people. I agree with you, the big cities are cool to visit but going to the smaller cities is such a better fit for us. So this next month, we are going to the OBX with our TT! Then at the end of the month, we are going out to Gatlinburg with our TT. Seeing your videos has really been an inspiration to get out there, and see the country. Not be in a hurry. My wife and I really enjoy the content. Can't wait to see what's on the agenda next!

@@debbiem7834 It was quite the trip! Our foster fail Kota goes everywhere with us, cause we love him! We took him to the little dog run around area, and found a dog collar name tag on the bench.. So I called the number on it when I got home, and talked to the owner - they couldn't find that tag. Apparently the dog had gotten into a mushroom or something like that at the campgrpund, got sick, and actually had passed away due to it. Apparently we were meant to go to that campground, to find that tag on the bench. I can't imagine what they went through. But I am glad that I was able to send that to their house, in memory of their little pooch.

Long time viewer since May of 2016, your maiden voyage to Sedona....all the kids and Maddie on board. It's been great to watch your kiddos grow and fly the nest....only Caleb left on board now. And what memories you have made. Sure have enjoyed the ride and looking forward to more. We live in Temple not far from Tricia's dad. We had dreams to travel in retirement and had purchased a fifth wheel and Duramax truck...made a couple of trips but back injury late in my career as a locomotive engineer caused us to have to table that dream. A younger couple bought our entire rig and hopefully are now retired and enjoying it. We do some traveling but not the RV lifestyle we so enjoyed during our younger years, so thanks for letting us travel vicariously through your channel. Looking forward to more adventures as you Keep Your Daydream!

I love the Biltmore! The candlelight tour at Christmas time is magical! The winery tour and a free tasting were included in the general admission ticket last time I was there. Hope they haven’t changed that aspect. If you ever go back, and assuming the extra tours are being offered, I can highly recommend the Rooftop tour, the Legacy of the Land tour, and the Backstairs tour (may have a different name now). These extra tours cost extra, but are well worth the $$ in my opinion. They did not repeat what you got on the general self-guided/audio guide tour. The gardens and conservatory are gorgeous too - tulips in the spring, colorful mums artistically planted in the fall, etc. Other historic hotels to add to your travel list: The Homestead in Hot Springs, VA; The Greenbriar in White Sulfur Springs, WV; Bedford Springs in Bedford, PA.

Marc, I'm under the impression the engine in The Bird is not equipped with a Turbo & Intercooler. That is the only way your going ng to get more power/ speed. Not sure if it can be retrofitted, but I would suggest you check into it. Thanks.

The Cat 3208 is/was basically a "utility" engine, was used in all kinds of stuff to do lots of tasks, none of which it did particularly well, including making power.

@@tomkrause62 Agree, the CAT3208 are terrible if you want any power..Torque, on the other hand, it will deliver..

notice they dont respond,,,lol..got to give them money for them to comment. You would think Marc would comment on this one but obviously out of his league, he just writes checks with others monies that contribute that makes them live this lifestyle.

On your return trip to the Asheville area if you want a smaller town experience check out Black Mountain, NC, Hendersonville NC and Waynesville NC. Each of those towns have one, two or three street central areas that have been developed and cater to the locals and any tourists who come to town. Lots of art galleries, hardware stores, farmers markets and local restaurants dominate those areas and they are all walkable. Have fun on your travels and stay safe!!!

I can’t believe you went to the Biltmore House and skipped Antler Village?! That’s by far the best part! Come back on the Spring for The Gardens and later for the candlelight Christmas experience… both are unforgettable! Not to mention, every year the Grove Park Inn has a ginger bread house competition that they come from the whole country to compete in and the winner is displayed in the Biltmore throughout Christmas.

Since you have the NASCAR itch, a stop at the Richard Childress museum in Welcome NC (near Winston-Salem) and the Childress Winery in Lexington NC are good stops. And 35 miles or so south of Greensboro is Asheboro, home of the North Carolina Zoo. This natural habitat zoo is a must see. Keep up the great work and safe travels.

LOL I could watch Caleb for days. He definitely needs his own spinoff channel one day! And I love how he is an exact photocopy of Trish in both looks and personality. He is her own little mini-me. I love that!

Laughter is so good for a person, keeps you young at heart. That's why I watch you guys every week. Caleb you cracked me up on this one. Would have loved to see how those sweet potatoes came out. What was the brand on the air fryer? I'm looking for a good one.
