I know this comment is quite late, but no he doesn't use real instruments. The sounds you hear are not coming from the footage you see. Tbh, why do people think it matters if the music they hear is coming from real instruments or are computer generated. Music from the 80s was already quite synthesized. Music's music with or without instruments.
