Kyle, I have been painting for years and I have taken many courses from many artists. Just watching this very basic, first video has introduced me to a freedom that I have been seeking. The paper towel method and value instruction, although very basic, are absolutely priceless!

I am an Acrylic painter, and have been wanting to try it in plein air. I loved watching you lay in so much of the design with paper towels and a neutral gray over sienna toned canvas. Holding the intense colors was another revelation to me. I'm looking forward to more videos.

Kyle is an excellent teacher. I’ve watched a lot of demos and he gives out more helpful and comprehensive information than most. One very important piece of advice he recommends is not to choose just a pretty scene. Much better to use a very simple view or subject and enhance it. It took a while for that to register in my paintings.

Hi Kyle. Just discovered your beginner #1 video, very informative. Like the painting big shapes with paper towels. You show how a painting can develop by applying broad strokes from the beginning. I know I get to wrapped up in getting it to look like a finished painting with to much detail right off the bat. Also like the suggestion of picking a simple subject. You're being very generous with your time and knowledge. Thank you.

You are the first person I have heard advise new painters to use quality materials. I totally agree. If you are a beginner and are trying to replicate something you have seen in another painting, if you are using cheap paints you don’t know if the reason you can’t do it is your lack of skill or the paint not being able to achieve the effect. With quality paints you remove that variable. It’s you!

Kyle, I found your channel a few days ago, viewed some of your videos, and viewed this one. You are doing great with your presentation. I found it quite interesting during the first of the video, we all experenced the "Trains, Planes, and trucks" effect. I really like how you build the image using the paper towel technique which forces you to go loose and view the value shapes. It was great to see this come together.

I don't mean to focus on the negative here, but who could have possibly hit the dislike button on this video? There's always one. Anyway, Kyle, you have a clear talent for teaching. Thank you.

I'm just going to believe that someone hit those "dislike" buttons by mistake. "Oops! I meant to click the like button." Like that. Myself, I found this very helpful, and I've done a bit of plein air painting.
