The Reffing in this match was a little suspect Dake backed up the whole 2nd period and JB should of got a point because of Dake stalling/Negative wrestling. Whether it would of been a Caution 1 or 2 for fleeing the mat is debatable. This match should of at least been 3-3 in the last 10 seconds, giving JB a chance to win with a Step Out of bounds point at the end. Because of criteria he had to go for the takedown which is hard to do against a stalling Dake.
@kirklandau2826

It’s possible that Burroughs is a little bit past his prime at this point. I mean, he’s not that old, but technically 33 is just past the theoretical window of true/absolute “prime” and “peak” physical/athletic performance. In a game of inches and milliseconds at the highest level of freestyle wrestling, if you’re a guy who relied so heavily on your raw athleticism such as Burroughs did, then being even slightly past your peak can be significant or noticeable. If you yourself notice it and let it get to you, then your mentality and confidence are significantly impacted as well. This creates a compounded effect that magnifies the initially marginal loss of pure athleticism into a more major diminishment of overall wrestling performance. Not to take anything away from Dake, who first and foremost won because he’s improved gradually and steadily as a wrestler over the years and now is reaching his peak form. Some guys like Dake have a delayed peak because they succeed not just with athleticism but rather skill and technique and sharply honed wrestling instincts. Burroughs would’ve needed to be in peak form in order to stand a good chance of beating *this* current version of Dake who’s on another level than he used to be

All this after losing to burroughs time and time again. And from a viewers standpoint..Dake realized the flaws in his style when it came to jordan. He went from and low and solid stance(first two bouts against burroughs) to a quicker and more fluid style. Major respect to burroughs because he paved the way for all of those that have come for his throne. Beyond happy to see Dake getting it done. Not a hate thing but i always favored Dake when they fought. Glad to see after all the work Dake finally reached this accalade. Respect to Burroughs for years of amazing wrestling and dominating. Burroughs is usually a much better scrambler. Even the 2 points at the beginning of the match - you NEVER see Burroughs allow someone to get behind that easily. Burroughs is obviously just not wrestling like he typically does. On ANY other day Burroughs could - would and should win. I think we need Burroughs at the Olympics. Dake was an awesome college wrestler but he's not at Burrough's level.
@kirklandau2826
@kirklandau2826 2 жыл бұрын
Maybe. But haven’t there been other indications that Dake has significantly improved and leveled up as a wrestler? Didn’t he dominate incredibly in this past World Championships tournament and nobody scored a single point on him in the entire tournament? I’m not expert on amateur wrestling, I don’t follow it that closely, but that seems like a massive accomplishment and indicative of a difference between the level Dake is at now compared to the level he used to be at. I do believe that Burroughs might be slightly past his true/absolute prime or peak as an athlete also, and for someone who relied so heavily on raw athleticism, that’s significant in a game of inches and milliseconds at the highest level. So it’s a combination of BOTH Dake improving AND Burroughs declining. But I’d say it’s MORE about Dake improving

Dake out wrestled Burroughs in both matches, but the move he did on his head was disrespectful and unsportsmanlike. If you purposefully do some shit like that, don't then be in someone's ear trying to tell them anything at the end of a match/game. For them to replay it in slow motion is lame. If it wasn't for that, I would be all for Dake finally getting his chance at the Olympics. They should both retire after this year.

Did Dake ever sit and pout on the mat any of the 3 times he lost prior to Jordan? NO, he walked off the mat smiling saying he will get better. That shows you the truth about someone. Countless advantages given to Jordan over the years, never once being put on the shot clock in one match when Dake was twice in one match which is unheard of. Dake never poked Jordans eyes, Jordan intentionally poked Dakes eye every match and it was visible. Dake is 10x the man and wrestler and more importantly the man Jordan is.

Jordan Burroughs is a tool. Intentionally going after Dakes eyes, LITERALLY EVERY MATCH DAKE LEFT WITH A VISIBLE CUT TO HIS EYE, JORDAN NOT ONLY TOOK THE EASY ROAD EVERY YEAR TO THE FINALS, while not even being man enough to say that is an advantage when it is a MASSIVE ADVANTAGE. He also pokes Dake in the eye intentionally basically every match they wrestled. Dake is 10x the wrestler and 100x the man Jordan is cuz he never took the easy road. Jordan thought he was some superstar but he was nothing of the sort and his actions prove that.
