This is probably my favourite version I've performed of this song and I'm so glad it got recorded and filmed.
This song is about my personal battle with mental health. This was the scribblings of me trying to piece together the fragments of what was left of me, whilst reflecting on past traumas & trying to find answers to why I felt this way. I can't say I've found definitive answers or cures but I've discovered this much - Facing the beast and leaning into the vulnerability of opening up about mental health has devoured the shame that consumes us around this topic. So here I am again (as I do every-time I share this song live) pushing through every voice inside that tells me not to talk about it this time, just play the song but hoping to get through to just one person suffering right now or knows someone that is and if nothing at all, its helping me to rewrite the narrative without the armour of shame.
