Kyle Rayner is the Dick Grayson of the Green Lanterns.... Well said, that does make a lot of sense. Dick Grayson and Kyle Raynor are my two favorite DC heroes as well, now it all makes sense.

As they should be. I'm sorry, but I just cannot understand why people are so enamored with Kyle Rayner. Not only Hal, but both John Stewart and Guy Gardner are far more interesting as characters than Rayner.

@crimsontitan Kyle just brought so much more character than Hal or John. Guy as a red later was wonderful because he got explored in the ways Kyle was and always had been written. People like Kyle because he isn't just a soldier like John and he isn't proclaimed as the "GREATEST GREENLANTERN EEEEEVVVVVVEEERRRRRR!!!" Like Hal has been and is continued to be written as to this day.

I couldn't agree more. Kyle is by far the most interesting Green Lantern, and if writers actually spent time on his stories rather than Hal ALL THE TIME, I think it would make for a great story. Hell, Omega Men was great, and he was the central character!!!!

Isaac Michel The only one who acts like a soldier really, is John. Hal improvises , takes risks,talks shit. He's the middle ground of John and Guy. What's wrong with being called the best green lantern? He overcame the yellow impurity which made the lantern corp stronger, shows the greatest display of will power. Kyle was spoon fed the WHITE LANTERN ring for gods sake.

Kyle is the best. The whole thing on mogo had me near tears. I remember reading all those stories, feeling each loss with him. I wear my Ion shirt every con and usually only one or two people know what it is.

there was a solo DC You trade paperback collection, for Martian Manhunter. Vol1 was really good! Surprisingly so (keep in mind i went in with low expectations) but it turns back into shit in Vol 2. It's by Rob Williams and Vol 1 is called "The Epiphany". Really recommend reading Vol 1 if you're into Grant Morrison-esque stories.

I agree with the torchbearer comments except your use of future tense words. He is the torchbearer because of what he did, when all else was gone he carried on the legacy until the day he could resurrect them. They are forever in debted to him for bringing them back so they constantly honor him by referring to him in that way.

I really dislike Hal because I feel like he's had too many redemption arcs, he continuously fucks up but I can understand his appeal.

Elijah Powell this may seem weak, but I blame the writers for that. Hal as a character is great, it's just the writers like to add problematic arcs in which goes into a redemption arc

+Elijah Powell That's actually the appeal that I like about Hal Jordan. He's not a perfect character, no, but that makes him far more human and, thus, more relateable and likeable than a guy who's constantly paraded around as a golden boy without hardly having proven anything or gone through any serious type of adversity or personal conflict. Unlike Hal Jordan, who's proven time and again why he IS the greatest green lantern, yet the writers at DC continue to sh*t on him for reasons that I just cannot understand.

+ComicsExplained This is yet another reason why I can't stand Kyle Rayner as a character, they severely OP'd him in the comics and literally give this dude EVERYTHING in terms of power and development. How is Hal Jordan, the guy who's supposed to be the GREATEST Green Lantern of them all, still pretty much at the same level in terms of power for all of these years? In my opinion, he should've been the one to become the white lantern, as that would've made more sense given that he'd gone through all of these struggles WAY before Kyle Rayner ever had, in terms of mastering the different aspects of the emotional spectrum. But no, Kyle Rayner continues to get all of this development and progress, in terms of powers, importance to the story line, and even relationship (in which the new DC writers LITERALLY snatched Carol Ferris from Hal just so they could have her shack up with Rayner). It's utterly ridiculous, and I just simply can't fathom for the life of me why the DC writers continue to pole-jock Kyle Rayner so much over other, far more interesting characters like Hal Jordan, John Stewart, and even Guy Gardner. It's absolutely insane.

To me, John Stewart is the REAL Torchbearer for the GLU post-Emerald Twilight. Kyle's run revolved around him being the "one and only", "too cool for old school" GL. John Stewart in the JL cartoon changed that, and it was fitting as he was cut from the same Silver Age cloth as Hal and Guy. TPTB in the comics almost reluctantly made him GL again, and we wouldn't really have multiple GLs until Rebirth. Bottom line: John carried the torch while Kyle carried a candle.

No. The revelation of Ion just being an emotional entity, just like with Hal Jordan being infected by Parallax, is something that came later. Not long after this either. The whole Torchbearer/Starheart thing kind of got dropped over the course of Geoff Johns run and wasn't really mentioned again ever since. Originally though, and i'm not sure why this wasn't mentioned in the video, Kyle Rayner being Ion was the result of him absorbing an immense amount of power, which partially was leftover from Hal Jordan as Parallax when he died. He then used this power to revive the Guardians of the Universe, becoming a regular Green Lantern again. Fast forward to Infinite Crisis like 5 or 7 years later and Kyle Rayner becomes Ion again when Jade gives him her Starheart energy, combining it with his regular Green Lantern energy. He's not as powerful as he was the first time around, but as this video explains he's still pretty damn powerful. Jump a year or three forward to Sinestro Corps War and it's revealed that Kyle had become Ion because of an emotional entity named Ion inhabiting his body. So, it's basically just typical DC retcons lol

well their probably going to explain it down the road with the injustice 2 comics.... like it could be after Alfred was killed when Damian and Bruce found him in the ally they could of just arrest him it wasn't really clear on what happen. but then later down the road he was murdered by Damien. theirs many ways that this could of happen many think it was a flash back or dream like when Superman had about Batman killed joker in injustice.

OK, if Mogo is a Lantern, then he has a ring. If he has a ring, then it has to be on him some where. If it's on him, then it can be found. And if it can be found, then you'd literally have an issue where you could pick a ring from off a tree or a rock. Or you could be like me and just kill Mogo up.

The Lord Of Watermelons don't over extend or over think the metaphor. White lanterns have the combined powers of all the cores. death is the enemy of all the cores. The basic metaphor works. And someone with more time and who was more articulate probably could argue the colors if they wanted (I mean greed is based on the fear of losing and not having things and the rage against people trying to take them)
