Kyle, since you bailed on SPAWN comics more than twenty years ago, I don't blame you for not being familiar with Soul Crusher. This character debuted as recently as 2016, somewhere around issue 265, near the end of Erik Larsen's run as co-illustrator (with McFarlane as his inker/finisher). The villain's name is supposedly part of an "inside joke" between these two, but I don't think either have yet come forward with a full explanation. From what I can tell, Soul Crusher doesn't even have supernatural powers, as his moniker would suggest. I agree with your impression that he seems too inadequate to pose a serious threat to Spawn. He's essentially a glorified merc (augmented by high-tech hardware) who might have been far more problematic for Spawn earlier in the game - around the time that Al Simmons first rematerialized on Earth as a hell-spawn, in a confused state and without knowing the extent of his own powers. Throwing this type of villain into the mix during current continuity, after Spawn has grown so much through his experiences with adversaries of much higher caliber, might prove anti-climactic.

I've read some Spawn over the years but have no familiarity with this character. It's a very cool looking figure though. Definitely a good looking villain for any line and maybe even a figure fed opponent for the Undertaker. I have the MK Spawn and the Gunslinger so I might grab this. I think they're releasing a new comics-accurate Spawn later in the year if you're looking for one.

Never got into spawn, have no idea who the soul crusher is but he looks cool, I’d buy him and just stand him on a shelf with random figures
