I have been using this phone for over a year now. I bought it while working on a large construction project. You didn’t mention that it is almost indestructible and that it is class 1 div 2 explosion rated. I worked for a year in very hot and cold conditions, dropped it many times, lots of dust and smoke, snow, etc and it never had an issue. It has the loudest speaker phone I have ever used. I could set it in the middle of a conference table and 15 people around the table could hear and be heard as if they were sitting right by the phone. It also has a good water resistance rating and the battery lasts 2 days with normal use. I am retired now and still use it as my primary device. Thanks for your videos.

Jose, turn on T9 predictive text it may start to spell different words, however when you finish it should be the correct word or a choice of words to pick from after some use it should learn the words you want to type.

Excellent review--been waiting on this one for a while! Looks like a really durable and solid option, but I think I still lean to the Sunbeam F1, which is what I ended up ordering. Specifically b/c of the Sunbeam F1's text2speech, integrated maps (as opposed to using the browser for maps), and touch screen for texting, wins hands down. I'm really excited for your recommendations video, and most excited on really which phone works best for day-to-day use in 2021.

i love that the sunbeam has its own integrated maps. it was a great phone for me. however the sunbeam is muchhhh less durable. in factits rather flimsy. i still love the company tho & i am glad they exist

I accidentally drove over my Kyocera flip phone with my diesel dually pick up truck 3 years ago. Asphalt and phone both unharmed. Phone still works great. Talk about military grade this thing is bomb proof ! Wrecker Randall

You’d have to side load a podcast app. No native podcast app on the phone. But if you use an apk like Antennapod it works great :)

My current old LG flip phone will display the name of the person on the external screen if they are on my contact list if not it shows the phone number from whoever is calling so I can screen my calls. Will it do this? I can not find it in their user manual. Do you know where to reference this? Also do you know if it can do voice to text? I have Verizon. I appreciate any feedback. My old LG is dropping calls alot now. Maybe support for it is being phased out otherwise I would continue to use it

Thanks for the video. May I ask a question? I use this phone for running and other activities. My previous phone broke. Version did replace it, but my contacts were lost. Version said there was not way to transfer contacts from old phone or from my iPhone. Do you know of a way to get iPhone contact one this duraXV Xtreme. Thanks

The screen portions of the video were pretty blurry most of the time (or was that my wifi? i dont know). but the video was very informative. I'm switching to a "dumb phone" for a while and this is coming my way in a few days. Great review!

Hello Jose, I'd like to ask about technical aspect of the phone, when it is described as 'unlocked'. (description in ebay) I plan to use the phone outside US Do I understand correctly that - the network is unlocked = I can use with the network outside US? (of course I've already checked that the frequency is compatible) - the GSM unlocked = is the 3G and 4G connectivity have to be unlocked too, to use outside US?, or the 3G and 4G are not bound by locked or unlocked status? -is this phone, when unlocked can be used outside US? If there are any misunderstanding, I'd like to ask you to correct, please.

Just bought one yesterday. I was able to keep my $30 a month plan with it so I was really happy. I love the durability, even just for everyday use. One question though.... The volume for the alarm is really loud. It doesn't lower through the master volume. Do you know a way to turn it down? Thanks & thanks for sharing this video.

Hello Jose, i bought this phone off eBay (open box supposedly) and i'm having this issue where the phone loses signal randomly and as it's searching for one, it turns off and then it turns back on. I tried with a Verizon sim card and a T-mobile simcard and no results. I've also noticed that if there's a constant load on the battery, such as leaving the flashlight on or leaving the music player on, it won't turn off and it'll work like it should. I've tried updating the software and doing factory reset and nothing has changed, do you think it could be that the battery is damaged?

Hello, I enabled developer options and I am trying to sideload Signal and a Jabber app. I tried unpacking from Downloads folder and from DCIM, but it says "For your sercurity, your phone is not allowed to install unkown apps from this source". Are there other settings in developer options that need to be enabled? do I need to put the APK in a different place?

I just got the phone and it seems like group texts don't work, I am replying to everyone separately instead of all together in the group text. Am I missing something or does this not have great group text compatibility? EDIT: I figured it out, there is a 'group text' setting inside the messages program that is off by default. I turned it on and now it works well.

Yes but only on Verizon. I’d recommend the XE for T-Mobile/Mint and better compatibility. You need to get it unlocked as well.

I think it may be because Google has to show a pop up screen in order to sign in and the phone doesn’t allow it. That’s my guess 😔 Don’t know if this would be the case with Google Maps as well, I’d appreciate any feedback on this. Those are really the only two apps I need. Thank you.

There are different versions. The DuraVX LTE can be used in other countries. The Extreme can be used only once it’s unlocked.

I don’t think so, but it might be possible. The issue is the non extreme doesn’t have LTE. Only 4G and Verizon will not support it come December.

@@Nomadcreations I couldn't tell you. I recently downgraded to a TCL Flip Pro. 4G is nice and all, but the durability and battery life is nowhere near what the old phone had. My old Kyocera is still very much alive and kicking. I just can't make phone calls on it any more.

I believe some of the Amazon versions come unlocked. It is compatible with T-Mobile and I was able to test it with that, my unit came unlocked.

You are able to install signal and set it up via Vysor, but the general usability is mediocre. I wouldn’t love to use it all the time, but if its a MUST for you and its mainly read only or sending voice messages, then its fine :)

I use signal in combo with the apps4flip mouse. It uses the d pad for everything except set up and if you need to send a photo.

You could, but you can't really play them because of the lack of a touchscreen.

The sound I believe sounds distorted on the Kyocera E4810 after listening to the tape recording I made compared with the tape from the Motorola Razor V3M. Kyocera was set at the lowest volume setting. It could also be "clipping." this is the term used in microphone comparison videos I saw by Bandrew. Clipping is when the gain is set too high. but there is no way to adjust the gain on the Kyocera phone. In my opinion the built in microphone that you speak into is of poor quality as well as the speaker that you listen to when you are in a conversation.

You can change the volume for the microphone while on a call with the volume keys. Same for the speaker volume. Are you trying to further adjust the gain? If so, I think that you can download an app from the F-Droid store or Aurora Store and try to change it that way.

What kind of flip-phone review omits a substantive description of its text feature? (I.e., is it easy to text on, or does it take *forever* to move from one letter to the next?) I mean, flip-phone users are primarily interested in calling & texting, not on "apps." That's the whole point of a flip phone.

Texting is either triple click or predictive text. If you are good at T9 or Triple click it will be easy.

To clarify: as someone who has only ever used flip-phones, it's really important to know how long it takes before you can move on from one letter to the next, when both letters are in the same three-letter grouping on a button. If you're forced to wait for a few seconds before moving on (i.e., the first letter flashes for too long before becoming solid), it *really* makes the process painful--no matter how good you are at T-9 typing. They don't yet, this is the message I got from their customer service "We do not currently sell in Europe and the cellular bands on the phone do not match up with European carriers" hope this helps.

You can only do it through your Verizon account. Ask customer service to show you how to do it from your customer portal.

@@JoseBriones My current old LG flip phone will display the name of the person on the external screen if they are on my contact list if not it shows the phone number from whoever is calling so I can screen my calls. Will it do this? I can not find it in their user manual. Do you know where to reference this? Also do you know if it can do voice to text? I have Verizon. I appreciate any feedback. My old LG is dropping calls alot now. Maybe support for it is being phased out otherwise I would continue to use it
