I took taekwondo. Made it up to red belt, 2nd degree, and thought I was good. Went to many tournaments like this. No punches to the face, knees to the gut, no take downs. Just body punches, kicks and the possible kick to the head, heal kick. Well, until I got into a real fight. Turns out body punches to your opponent doesn't work well when your face is getting pummeled with real punches. BJJ, Muay Thai, and boxing I went.

В киокушине пожалуй одни из самых крепких или даже железных бойцов, которые при этом остаются в здравии до старости, а не страдают от множественных сотрясений. То что спортивные соревнования проводятся без ударов руками по голове, не означает, что в каратэ вовсе нет этих ударов, мы многократно отрабатывали их на тренировках.

I got kicked out of my karate class half way through the first lesson, i told the couch i would beat anyone of his students hands down, so i he had me spar a red belt and i wiped the floor with her, but in my honest opinion i did that red belt a favour because she quit karate that day and took up kickboxing and judo, by the time she was 16 she was one of the best kickboxers in the country.

Я занимаюсь кикбоксингом и каратэ одновременно, для меня киокушин как искусство и очень сильная техническая подготовка базы, кикбоксинг больше на результат и физическая подготовка. Киокушин против кик-боксера ничуть не хуже.

For competition purposes no only head attacks to head allowed are kicks. In a real fight a boxer stands no chance against any fighting style that uses hands, elbows, knees, etc. Boxer can't do anything if his knees are gone.
