The black and gold combo will look awesome. That was always one of my favorite color schemes back in the day for almost any car.

I’m not a kyosho expert but for me that one is my favourite.. And of course I have got those memories of the optima lapping me over and over again at our Sunday morning club🤣🤣🤣.

Glenn! If you used the belt on your Javelin build, you can take the chain that was provided in that kit and use it for your Turbo Optima build. That's what I'm doing. Eliminates the need to buy a chain. Top content as always. Can't wait to see the finished model!

For my money the Turbo Optima is by far one of the best looking RC buggies ever made. And the re-re kit looks so good with all that gold 'bling', and I like your colour scheme idea for it, black with gold trim, kind of reminds me of the old F1 Lotus with the JPS sponsorship.... Can't wait to see it built and running!!

I was never able to get Kyosho cars in Northern Ireland but i did get Radio Race Car and Model Cars Monthly magazines, i always loved the Kyosho cars but tbis one is by far my favourite, such a beautiful thing

I had this as a kid. Built it hit a curb bent the frame. Willie had the Javelin.

With the beatiful gold with this car, I don't think I could run it. Black with gold decals, can't wait to see it. It will be special. Yes do it.

I had the original “Javelin” back then and I opted to buy the belt drive because in all honesty the chain drive was pretty weak and the chain kept stretching and after every run I had to disassemble the buggy just to go through and tighten up the chain links and this was a constant issue but after I switched over to the belt it really wasn’t a problem anymore. Once in a while I would have to tighten up the belt but it didn’t require having to disassemble the buggy to do it. I still have the chain drive with the diffs. 👍

Nice overview! The original Optima is the one that brings back the most memories from lusting after it in the magazine catalogs - specifically tower hobbies. Always wanted the turbo optima mid too later on. Never did get one. If I buy one now I think I would go for the original Optima and then skip the turbo and the mid and wait for the turbo optima mid. That's the dilemma for me.

I built my 1st one belt drive with the gold side bars and its awesome however just for shits and giggles ive built another for vintage racing with the chain. Its a 25 quid option part but makes it a bit different and interesting build experience which is let face it what most of us do this hobby for. Either version is just a superb experience all round throughout the entire build process and produces a top quality model that defo deserves its "Legendary" title. I am now looking for the Turbo Scorpion

When I saw the first video I instantly thought of a JPS colour scheme, I'm not sure about white though but I'm sure you'll change my mind and make it look awesome. I'm thinking I might give PS16 and gold a go at some point like the old clio Williams and Subarus.

Revive RC makes a cool under tray for this car so you can protect your shiny gold chassis from getting scratched up.

I really enjoy your channel. I'm building the re-re Optima (not turbo) version of this car and would like your recommendation on a very specific brushless motor/esc/pinion package for the car. My goal is good power, but not to get crazy and overpower the car. I'd try the Kyosho "240S" but for me they are too hard to find. I'm new to this, so the various "turns" "kv" and pinion size variations just confuse me. So far, I've built a couple of Tamiya's and I have used the stock, torque tuned and sport tuned motors (all the recent ones that are easy to purchase). My understanding is the Kyosho Optima re-re is designed to handle brushless, so I'd like to try something more powerful than the brushed motors I have been putting in the Tamiya's. Thanks, Tim

The gold optima was to celebrate a milestone in how many original Optimas they sold! Can't remember the numbers and how many gold Optimas they actually made (i think about 10,000ish) but it was a lot and they weren't particularly exclusive at the time? It was the standard optima with a gold chassis and a little sticker on the standard box saying it was the gold exclusive. Like you say this re-release turbo must be a combination of them both? And it is absolutely stunning to build and I don't need to tell you to enjoy it because you definitely will👍👍

It might look good with a chrome see thrpugh window tint. There's a see through silver/chrome paint you can get, i think tamiya make it

Actually Glenn, the Gold Optima was the original Optima, not the Turbo Optima.

What is the website for the tires?

The first batch of the turbo re re came with both chain and belt. Why in the second batch they left it out is unknown

Only ever had one Kyosho was the Nitro Astra DTM on the Fazar chassis i think built it weekly from one of those part works magazine but it was stolen before I ever got to run it!

You know they used to have the belt and the chain in the same box when they came back out with these legendaries I'm surprised they stopped doing it which is sad.
