Awesome restoration, it looks stunning!! It’s one of my favourites, I just love the look of it!…. You’re right about the Kyosho plastics, they are definitely of a higher quality than most others!👍👍🤘

Wish I got aboard the K train sooner, brother! It's a very sleek looking buggy for sure. Appreciate it & rock on!

Something so satisfying about these kind of projects, resurrecting a vintage icon and bringing it back to the track.... awesome! I've done many vintage restorations, and would definitely agree with you regarding the Kyosho plastics, they do not go as brittle as glass like most of the old Tamiya ABS plastics. Great job fella, looking forward to seeing it Grace the track! 👍 👍 👍

Thanks my friend. Always surprised when I pick up a vintage Kyosho. They pretty much just need fresh bearings, a dust off, and missing parts replaced. My Tamiya cars seem to break just sitting on the shelf...hahaha. The big K has definitely moved up on the list of what I prefer to collect now. Appreciate the support.

Great restoration of the Turbo Ultima! I agree about Kyosho plastic, its very tough,my 1986 vintage Rocky is scrached up and well used but nothing is broken on it!👍😀I hope Kyosho do reres of both eventually. Thank you for sharing and have a great upcoming week!

Thanks my friend. The plastic is so darn tough! My Raider was the same. Appreciate the support.

looks lke a later model original had a aluminum channel chassis and fiberglass top plate silver shocks.

Correct. This is an Ultima 2.

Looks awesome. What did you do to hold a battery? Did you have to fabricate some pieces or were you able to adapt existing pieces from another car? Can’t wait to see this buggy run.
@VINTAGEBACKYARDRC8 ай бұрын
Appropriate it! You can actually strap it to the upper deck with the old school Kyosho cable straps.

I’ve never messed with a ball diff
@VINTAGEBACKYARDRC8 ай бұрын
Most of them build the same...the thrust bearing side is always a pain if the balls are not encased (as this car is).

Looks great. What paint did you use??
@VINTAGEBACKYARDRC8 ай бұрын
The purple and pink is old fast color (think Parma) and the white is Tamiya. Appreciate it brother.

@@VINTAGEBACKYARDRC I’m gonna take a stab at sir brushing a body I think. I’ve got an entire set of createx paints I bought to do guitars and have never really used. Side note I’ve got marbilizer and the colors to do that too so might do a hard body with that too
