The more you go west along the Shirakawa River, the more elegant the atmosphere becomes. After walking along the beautiful cobbled streets and willow trees, after crossing the bridge called "Shinbashi", you will see a small bridge called "Tatsumibashi" and "Tatsumi Daimyojin" on the opposite side.
Tatsumi Bridge is a bridge that spans the Shirakawa River. In spring, the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, and the vermillion tamagaki fences create a rich atmosphere.
You should also visit Tatsumi Daimyojin, which is located across the street. Although it is a small shrine, it is very beautiful with the scenery along Shirakawa-dori.
At the boundary of Tatsumi Daimyojin, there is a path that divides into the north side and the south side. This road is also full of Kyoto-esque atmosphere, and is a place you should definitely visit when you visit Gion.
"Shimbashi-dori" is lined with traditional Kyomachiya. Considering the privacy of the guests, long bamboo blinds are hung so that the inside cannot be seen from the outside.
Gion is a tourist destination that represents Kyoto and is also known as Japan's largest geisha district. You can enjoy beautiful streets such as Hanamikoji and Shirakawa Minami-dori, and there are many wonderful restaurants.
