Located in Arashiyama in Kyoto Japan, the Bamboo Grove is a must-visit sight for every visitor. It’s extremely popular with tourists from around the world so I recommend going early in the morning.
If you like food and travel, subscribe and press the bell icon for notifications. I’m based in Tokyo Japan, so you’ll see lots of Japan based content. However I also travel often so you’ll get to see other parts of the world as well.

This bamboo forest is absolutely breathtaking. For anyone wanting to relax after a rough day or to take a long walk and enjoy the beauty and tranquility of nature, this seems like the perfect area to get away from the daily stress of life. Despite the rain and large crowds, you did a really great job with the camera and filming this wonderful video👍🇯🇵❤

When I went I actually found the neighborhoods surrounding the bamboo forest to be much more relaxing. I found a small shrine with a path far into the mountains with a breathtaking view of Kyoto and a small shop where the owner was world famous for his hand-carved tanooki statues! Obviously you have to check out the forest, but I would also encourage setting aside a few hours to just wander around as well.

Although I have been to Arishiyama this made me want to go again! There is something so special about a bamboo forest - and I loved that everything, even the fences, are made of that bamboo. As always, thank you for taking us along on your visit. A delight!

This place is on my travel bucket list, so I was curious to watch the video when I found it. It’s been almost one year since you filmed it, I wonder how more relaxing and serene the place must be now in these days of domestic tourists only. For sure far more calm. The sound of the rain was a nice addition but the path was even more complicated because of the forest of umbrellas. The encounter, I felt your feelings, you dealed with it well, I wished your partner would have been closer at that moment. I feel that foreigners often seem to consume the locations only instead of enjoy being there and forget people around them, but not in a considerate manner. Also school classes are quite a challenge. I agree, when crowds leave , one can breathe deeper and it feels like a relief to enable to enjoy the location oneself better. Thank you for the video. And I agree, the snacks seemed a good reward and refresh. 🤗

Also I have seen many women dressed in a traditional Japanese outfit, for lack of the correct word (my apologies). Is there a reasoning behind this or is this how they dress, more formally? I would love to learn.

Thanks for watching! Because Kyoto is a very traditional city and is popular with tourists, many people decide to rent a kimono for the day. You will see locals wearing kimono here and there though.

Arashiyama is really gorgeous, we've been there in summer and it's a wonderful stroll as well as a great relief from the Kyoto summer heat - if you wander up far enough you come across some more beautiful shrines (some have an entrance fee) with an amazing view over the city of Kyoto. Wah, after watching this I want to go there again so badly...

I enjoyed Arashiyama. I went there in 2018 but only saw a small section of the bamboo grove as the temple near the start was my destination. I went over the bridge but wish I had done the boat trip to along the river from there but didn't have time.

Enjoying this type of video, allowing me to make a better itinerary formy friends who have never been to Japan. Need your info: do you have to go back to where you enter the forest or there is anoter exit that is also go to the station. And how long does it take if it is a one way or round trip(if you need to go back to the entrance). Thanks so much. I hear my fellow Indoensian taking picture as you went by.
@IWillAlwaysTravelforFood
@IWillAlwaysTravelforFood 4 жыл бұрын
There is another exit/entrance to the grove. However it doesnt end at the same place so we ended backtracking a little bit. The grove isn’t particularly huge so it doesn’t take that long to get back. There are clear signs showing you which way us which in English so you’ll have no problems. I hope this somewhat helps.
