Whisky.com reviews the Kyrö Malt Rye Oloroso. Finnish malt rye whisky is made from malted rye. The additional malting step brings out the fruity flavours in the rye much more clearly, and the rye malt is also slightly more acidic and bready than unmalted rye. In general, rye is rarely malted for whisky production. Rye malt is widely used in bread production in particular. The special feature of this edition bottled exclusively for Germany is the finish in Oloroso sherry casks. The Kyrö Distillery Company was founded in 2012 by five friends during a visit to the sauna.

I would love to see Horst and Ben review Kilinga Bacanora, silvestre and añejo. Bacanora is a type of agave spirit with a unique desert wildflower nose and taste.

Horst I adore Rye and I want to try this particular expression so much! I am a single malt Scotch lover (especially Islay!!) but a good Rye is always welcome! Understatement! I am so intrigued! You give such amazing history! I learn so much! Love your videos/reviews! Thank you! I have never had Rye with Oloroso Sherry! I have to find this beauty although it sounds like it was geared for Germany only. Hefty Rye is amazing and I love 100% Rye bread! The sour taste is fabulous and so enticing! Sour and dill! I only buy 100% Rye, preferably at a higher ABV! Kyro is amazing! I have long been learning about this distillery! Cheers! 🙂

Greetings from Finland, Horst! You should also taste other Finnish whisky, Teerenpeli. It is a bit more sophisticated dram

We have already tried the Teerenpeli Karhi and the Teerenpeli Kaski on our channel and enjoyed them both.

@@WhiskycomTeerenpeli has 10 year old single malt these days as a core expression and they have 14 and even 15 year old as a limited release, but those could be little tricky to get in Germany.

I'd love to try this, but it sadly isnt available in Finland. What I also noticed is that all the bottlings sold in Finland seem to be 0.5 liters. This might be because their production most likely isnt enough to supply 0.7 liter bottles everywhere so they have to regulate their bottlings by bottling some to 0.5l bottles. Its also better to sell 0.7l bottles abroad, since us Finns dont mind smaller bottles for now.
