the push-offs appears as it is because of the arm bar protecting the ball. you would naturally harden the arm bar when a defender comes in contact and tries to reach in. when defender pulls back, opposing tension against the arm bar is suddenly pulled causing the involuntary extension of the arm

Both Kyrie and Luka were doing the same thing pushing off their defenders. Luka plenty of times dipping his shoulders into the defender. If this was done back in the 80's and 90's that would be called for offensive fouls. Not to mention, hooking your arm or elbow into your defender is also a no no. I kinda lost respect for Mavs fans due to the constant whining on the comments section after winning the game. Honestly, who does that. Hope Kyrie stays healthy.

This series is a toss up for me and just watching as an outside fan. I’ve seen SGA play enough to know he is not a dirty player - he knows he doesn’t have to play that way. Luka on the other hand is crafty and I’ve seen him do it a few times now, where he sticks his head where the attacking player’s hand or elbow is about to go with the intention of forcing a foul call. It’s a risky move but I guess it shows just how much he wants to win. This play is a good example of it as SGA’s motion was a natural basketball play - his right elbow has to go up when approaching from that angle - Luka knew that and still kept his head there - hopefully he’s okay as both players are fun to watch.
