She did that in 3 different language Chinese,Tagalog, English, she is not a Chinese, English language is our 2nd tongue sp to speak, but then she sang that in her own way, KZ is a unique singer here in the Philippines one of a lot of singers that had a gifted voice❤

If I'm not mistaken that was her farewell performance on the Singer 2018 stage since she was eliminated already a week before that performance. She sang most of the lines in Mandarin/Chinese (I know Mandarin is just one of the languages of Chinese. But not sure if that really was Mandarin. One thing is sure, that is Chinese's language.) Yes, Filipinos are good in translating English songs to Tagalog and still able to fit them within the same bar, melody, without compromising the meaning of the song. 😁😆

The Singer is a Chinese contest tv program. They probably translated it for her and every contestant is actually given a partner who is Chinese. KZ's partner happens to be a singer and musician himself and he helped her out on some of the performances. In fact her comeback performance, she sang "Anak" with him playing the guitar.

Lyrics are written specifically for a particular music and language. When translated into another language, most of the time, it is made to rhyme. The exact meaning, essence or beauty of the song is kinda lost in translation.

I can relate to that. When translating to other languages specially in a song and a poem It's not necessary to translate into exact or direct translation. They often look for other words or phrases to make them rhyme.

She changed some words, but made sure that she doesn't change the meaning of the song. She wanted to relay a message to the chinese audience about friendship and bond by translating some parts of this song to chinese.

I'm always sad seeing Filipino fans on comment sections, they are shouting within their words up to the point that they're being too boastful. Our country is gifted with greens, blues, and talents I 100% think that our artists are far better than those from other countries (not just with singing) and you guys know that. I'll definitely contribute to make this country bloom when I became an adult. I love this country, It feels like it's hugging me everytime.

Yes, ay you said, a word in one language very likely will have different number of syllables and intonation, and so it translating a song from one language to another requires the translator be expert in using various words or phrases to fit in the measures/bars of the song.

She had to practice and memorize the lyrics in Mandarin in a short time. She does not really speak or understand or speak Mandarin (Chinese). She did this for the audience.
