I have a newer version of the PR2 that doesn't have that black blanket over the driver. It has too much treble. I tamed it with narrow bore tips and using a balanced cable with a high power amplifier. HiFri talked about these different versions in his review. HiFri suggested using filters on the nozzles.

He’s already said in the beginning and the end the price is so good it’s a no brainer to get this iem. But he did pick heyday, timeless and talos over pr2.

At the end of the video he made a short comparison with the best planars (Heyday, Talos, Timeless AE) and he said the PR2 are comparable to Heyday which means they're better than s12/s12 pro, Zetian Wu etc.

Why does KZ persist with their .75 cable, I would dive in if it was a .78. I have plenty of .78 cables, "Does anybody run the stock cable". The GoldPlanar GL20 is in a league of it's own. Where does the NiceHCK F1 sit in the planar placement?

Ian, it seems that the Timeless AE has the most bass out of the planar iems, and it's not even that bass heavy. I’m waiting for a meaty bass driven planar iem and wondering who will do it first and get it right. They should aim for a tuning like the 4 BA Symphonium Meteor with hefty sub and mid bass, smooth treble and good extension air. But I’m not sure if they can do it with planars today. If they do, I’m all over it. My planar LCD X 2021’s have the best bass I ever heard and hoping that planar iem tech can catch up to the big brother headphone tech. Btw, the Meteors tuning and timbre is close the LCDs. I hoped that the PR2s would have had more bass overall, but alas, I’m a basshead.

That's why the quidelix 5k exists, takes all but 1 min to add a bass shelf and you can have them as lean or bassy as you like.

I'm surprised you didn't even mention the other cheapest planar IEM on the market rn, TRN Rosefinch. Waiting for your opinion about this two compared in terms of technical performance since the tuning of Rosefinch might not suit some people.

Obviously. It's just, I like the build on the Rosefinch more and I'm not allergic to EQ, so it'll be better if it has the same if not better technicality. Too bad I can't try the Rosefinch in my country unless I blindbuy it.

I'm not a vlogger or IEM reviewer, just a humble audiophile with 20 years of experience, owing a bunch of IEMs (Etymotic ER-4S, Etymotica ER4XR, Letshouer S12, Letshouer S12 Pro, KZ PR1 Hi-Fi, TRN Xuanwu, KZ AS16, TRN Rosefinch and some much lower budget) and headphones (Sehnheiser HD650, HiFiMan 400SE). And I must say that Rosefinch sound like shit! Even Xuanwu are better, though they are garbage too. So TRN Rosefinch is just a waste of money comparable to the price of PR2.

👍 Tremble madness again.Noone made a warm neutral planar yet.I wonder who is gonna sell first and who last..The other issue is if you force one driver to push too much bass you loose A LOT of nuances technicalities..That said I think there is still enough room for a neutral very technical planar iem.If I had the means I would make one like this but I can't.. Something between Oracle mk 1 and mest mk2.Very little bass raise very little 3khz rise and after straight line

I'm still curious, how does it compare to the rest of the Planars? I wouldn't mind waiting to hear your opinion on how they compare to the rest of your planar collection, after all, I want to know where they stand on (at least your)the list of relevant Planar IEMs. Edit: Forgot to mention this, but specifically I wanna know how it compares tech wise. Tonality/FR/Sound Signature comparisons would be appreciated too though. Also, I don't remember you mentioning this, but do these have the "planar timbre" that many are familiar with?

If it’s on par with Heyday, then it’s better than the rest. Heyday doesn’t have a planar timbre. Soundstage is holographic on Heyday, at least to my ears…and very musical and engaging. Clarity and details are too notch on the heyday, so at$ 40 or less for the PR2, it’s a no brainer.

@@Rsalmond83 its not on par with Heyday. Just listened to PR2 and Heyday. Heyday is a better, more refined, wider soundstage with better details. PR2 is V-shaped, upper mids are SHOUTY. 5k energy is just too much! with so much upper mids, hard to hear midbass and lower mids. it's just too clean. I prefer PR1 Pro with foam tips, closer to Heyday, overall

I would say it's a poor man's Zetian Wu. It has the Zetian Wu bass shelf anyways, but more upper mids and slightly wonkier highs. I think it would need some EQ work for more sensitive listeners, but hey it's 1/3 the price of the Zetian Wu, which will probably be hard to find soon as it's discontinued in favor of the Heyday. So this would be a good IEM to get a taste of planar sound and a good EQ candidate like dioko but no it's not as good as the top planars and I think if you want a planar that doesn't have offensive timbre you still should get a Tangzu.

The cable that comes with the new pr2 lookes cheaper and not as good as the one that comes with the pr1 pro. I am a bigginer to all these IEM and lossless music, so will it be better to upgrade to a better cable if I go for this PR2. And also i would like to know how good is this PR2 when compared to the rest of your collection. Anybody can reply to this comment so that i will get to know this better. Thanks

You don't need to upgrade the cable necessarily unless the cable is microphonic or tangles a lot. So you can get the pr2 and get a better cable later.

if not a cable upgrade, probably some kind of impedance adapter; which I’ve heard is almost required for better tuning several KZ models.

@@aarliann An impedance adapter usually increases the bass response of DDs, while bringing out the treble in BAs. Using an impedance adapter on a hybrid will likely turn their older v shaped sets into an even more aggressive v shape(assuming the BAs even work on their older sets), but u can't say for sure

Tech Savvy said PR2 has better separation and layering with a higher level of clarity compared to Dunu Talos but Ian says Dunu Talos is untouchable compared to PR2.. Some personel reviews stated that PR2’s bass and treble improved significantly after some burn-in process. Maybe its related to that.

I have this and the ZVX, which is more fun to listen. It has more bass and not so much treble. Soundstage is great and imaging and resolution good. The PR2 has better resolution and imaging and faster and tighter bass.

PR2 is just a little bit more difficult to drive? 94db PR2 requires a good dongle to drive, not a cheap USB dongle. 98db P1 max will let's you drive on smartphone without a dongle. 4db makes a huge difference.

Guys I have a question, I bought these headphones but they are heard quite low, compared to the kz zs10 pro x, about 40% less volume, could someone confirm if that is ok or could you get a refund?

That's something they don't mention enough on reviews. Pr2's are quite hard to drive, one reviewer says it's even harder to drive than sennheiser HD 6xx which is a really hard to drive headphone. So you definitely need a seperate dongle to get enjoyable volume levels as i heard. And even though i don't have them, 94db sensitivity is just insase for an iem. That's the lowest one i've ever heard, so also the hardest to drive. Also the quality should affected on smartphone

Definitely PR2. People compliment the Khan, but i don't. The bass is too boomy and blunt. The nozzle is way too big, the PR2 is a much better fit

The PR2 sounds to me like a fixed version of the Dioko (which was way too ear-piercing in the upper highs for me). HBB seems to have HeyDay'ed the PR1 Pro to arrive at this more reference-sounding version... and one-upped Crin's Dioko in every way that matters to me.

I have PR1, PR2 and several KZs with Fiio Q1 Mark II, BTR7, A5 and all balanced, single end cables. Did AB test for 3 days. PR2 is the worst. It sounds thin, not engaging, not exciting, lacks punch in the low end. It's just boring. Piano sounds the most boring with the PR2. The ZS10 Pro sounds much better than these. Regrets buying this.
