i don't blame de leon here, he was basically attacked. there's not a single man amongst us who wouldn't have done the same. worse if cameras weren't around. putting your hands up and relying on that technicality to get you off the hook doesn't make him moral or just, it's still assault in the threatening and intimidation part of the definition of 'assault and battery' (wherein battery is actually the physical part).

Firstly, THAT Jason Reedy is the Same Jason Reedy who on that same day ( Friday) was kicked out of the LA City Council meeting by officers because they thought that he ( Reedy) was about to get into a Physical Fight with another person . Obviously, Reedy & his Crew followed DeLeon to that Christmas Community Event LOOKING for an Altercation, i.e. FIGHT. DeLeon did his best to DE-ESCALATE the situation, and actually was leaving the venue...BUT Violent Reedy pursued, and even forced his way through that door , which he was obviously NOT allowed to go through. Violent Jason Reedy Headbutted Kevin DeLeon TWICE; it was only after the SECOND Headbutt did DeLeon JUSTIFIABLY defend himself. Reedy thought his video would show DeLeon to be the Attacker, but instead it Vindicates DeLeon and INDICTS Violent Reedy. LAPD go arrest Violence-prone Reedy !

I don't think this anger is going to die down. It's clear De Leon thinks he was going to wait a couple of weeks to start showing his face again after the dust had settled on the recording that was exposed. I don't think the community is going to let him run away from this that easily. He needs to resign and be respectful of the people in his community. Defense was justified. Good for the councilman. When there is a bunch of people surrounding you and a man refusing to let you move and get out away from any possible harm. Force is the only answer. There are justifiable reasons to fight.

Based on this video, the councilman had every moral right to defend himself. He had an angry mob following him and he had every expectation that they had very bad intentions for him. The moment those protesters invaded his personal space and it was on! I don’t care what this councilman did or said to warrant public scorn. Physically confronting him is more of a wrongful act. This can not be the way to politically deal with someone you don’t like!
