Grazie a tutti!
If it is true that “the right thing is the right time”, the 10th of October 2015 was the perfect time to dedicate an evening of art to Karatedō.
In fact, it was the 50th anniversary of the arrival in Italy of Master Hiroshi Shirai who, together with Master Taiji Kase, deeply inspired my Karate; and it was also the 50th birthday of my wife Cristina Restelli who, in addition to being a top level Karate Master, with almost 50 years of practice, made possible all the good things in my life.
But that moment also coincided with the publication of my three Volumes dedicated to kata and various films, or rather: cinematographic experiences, where Karate dialogues on a par with classical arts such as cinematography, photography, music and calligraphy.
The moment was right to truly show that Karate is an art and, if practiced correctly, it is the art of life: Karate-Dō.
I confess that there were many doubts about the success of the event, especially since no one had ever thought about or created something similar.
But the enthusiasm of many of my students who, after following me for decades, I invited to my side to share the present and future of our path, and the great depth of the artists who collaborated, swept away any doubts, giving birth to a truly exceptional and unique event.
The only discordant note came from the filming of the event that, due to a technical issue, was almost completely lost. We were only able to recover the footage from a side video camera.
For those present at the event, I am sure that this recording, even if partial, will awaken the thoughts and the deep emotions experienced and, perhaps, will make the exceptional nature of the event even better understood.
For all the others, I hope that they can still grasp the effort we have made or, if nothing else, the seriousness with which we know how to have fun.
Thank you all!
