When L figured out that Misa is Kira 2, he knew she would try to contact Light. For back up he gave the order to capture her as soon as possible. Misa indeed came to Light and to prevent her from talking to Light, L said he's her fan for other people to notice. The commotion prevented Light from talking to Misa. In the same commotion L took Misa's phone pretending he's a pervert. And when Misa's agent took Misa from all the people, she was captured before Light could contact her. And without Light knowing about all of this, he fell for all of L's tricks, he confirmed L that he's Kira instantly after he called Misa. After all, he already has a girlfriend, why would Misa all of a sudden have such interest in Light? And Light's 2nd attempt to call Misa failed, as L earlier gave the order to capture her. L was always so much steps ahead of Light, while fighting against supernatural force and against 2 Kiras.

@@raiford5082of course Light would be able to keep up with him. Light literally has magic notebooks and 2 GODS OF DEATH with him. You will say Ryuk is not helping him but he actually did. Because of Ryuk, Light knew that he’s being followed by Ray Penber. They also had the power to make the owner of the notebook forget literally everything about the notebook which is a huge game changer. Rem, on the other hand, literally sacrificed himself to kill L. and you say that Light’s keeping up with him? that’s funny shit. L is far far more smarter than Light in every aspect of it. yes i agree though that Light is intelligent as well. but his intelligence is not always the one at play whenever he is keeping up with L. it’s more of the supernatural powers that comes with it that Light manage to be able to keep up with L. L literally has no supernatural powers. He’s literally a human being with genius intellect.

L knows who Kira is, knows that there are 2 gets lied to by supernatural beings, all the while trying to find proof beyond a shadow of a doubt that he is correct so the police can make the arrest. I am a huge fan of fictional detectives, from Holmes to Batman, to Poirot, but L is my all time favourite. I still wish it had been him and not Near to see Light's demise but Near is some ways is probably more of the perfect counter.

When Misa came into the picture and once they started talking in Light's room, I literally skipped it. I will admit that Misa does get smarter as the show goes on, but at the same time, once you compare all her scenes and pare them to the story and see what she would have changed, the only thing she did was get evidence of that other guy later on being the 3rd Kira. And even then, L knew it was one of the main board members, and since some of them were being killed by the 3rd Kira, it limits down their options and they would have found out eventually. So yeah, Misa is kind of useless.

He suspected Light to be the first kira who needs the name and the face. He suspected Misa to be the second killer since she was so closely associated with Light and the second killer didn't need a name to kill his victims. So now that Misa had seen L, he thought Light would call her up to kill L.

He suspected the 2nd Kira would try and make contact with Kira. Since he was suspicious of Light, he observed his "new friends". Light was already dating a school classmate, Takada at the time so Misa appearing out of nowhere made L think she was the probable 2nd Kira. Thats why he took Misa's phone, to prevent the two from communicating and killing him.
