Grocery stores often discard perfectly good groceries long before the expiration date because they get truckloads and palletloads of new stock without warehouse space or shelf space for already shelved inventory. So stuff that's been sitting on the shelves in the store for a week or two gets tossed to make room for "new" stock that's barely any fresher. Many store franchises and managers have a very litiginous response against donating good groceries to food pantries- they are genuinely not interested in taking any risk at all that someone receiving donated food will SUE the grocery chain, management, etc if they 'get sick' eating donated food. Of course anyone getting donated food could be required to 'sign a waiver' before receiving donated food items. But... it's a free country and ANYONE can SUE ANYONE ELSE for pretty much ANY REASON AT ALL, no matter what waivers or liability exemptions agreements have been signed or implied etc etc. And such grubby scuzzy lawsuits are often NOT fought but SETTLED before the courtdate. Sad but true. That's why America has so many nasty anti-donation sentiments and anti-dumpsterdiving rules.

THANK YOU FOR FEEDING YOUR COMMUNITY!!!! Going to the grocery store just makes me wanna cry because we can't afford all that we need. I understand corporations don't donate because then it's not a tax right off. But we struggle and I know ALOT of people are. I was taught to never buy anything unless it's on the weekly sales ad but sometimes we want that bag of chips or something else & just can't afford it. I've taken up dumpster diving mainly at the grocery stores in KY bc it's illegal to do it in Metropolis IL. I talked to the sheriff's police & in Metropolis, whenever the stores put items in the dumpster the garbage co. owns it. Come to find out they get paid by the pounds of garbage they dump. 😢WOW!!! So me & my neighbor lady goes to Paducah KY & trust me, we are finding more & more competition (not really but it's kind of a race)😂 but here lately there's so many DD because no one can afford much. I even share whenever a DD stops to see if I'll share. 9 times out of 10 we do.

you can clean the rug with soap outside. If it has any stains use shout stain removal.
