Russia will never give up its access to the Black Sea and does not want NATO to be presented in Ukraine. Both sides need to find solution.
Israel “Relik” Shafir, brigadier general (in reserve), was one of the eight pilots selected to fly the mission to bomb the Osiraknuclear reactor on June 7, 1981. He spent 31 years as a pilot and commander in the Israeli Air Force, including stints as commander of the Hatzor Air Base Pilot’s School as well as the Tel Nof Airbase.
General Shafir shared his view on the ongoing situation in Ukraine, describing it as dire. However, he noted that Russia will insist on its position, as Ukraine represents huge role in terms of Russia’s national security.
“Russia will not get everything it wants, maybe it will get territories in Eastern Ukraine, where there is a large Russian community. Some kind of a deal should be signed, these areas should be neither neutral nor controlled. Russia will never give up its access to the Black Sea. So both sides will have to come down from their claims and walk back”.
Despite the fact Moscow has way more resources than Kyiv, Russia is also seeking for possible negotiations. According to Israel Shafir, the main point in agreement might be eastern parts of Ukraine, represented by Russian-speaking people. Ukrainian crisis is something more than just a conflict in Europe, as it affects world politics.

אני לא רואה בדבריו חכמה מיוחדת. הוא רואה מהרהורי ליבו. גם לי יש דיעות על המלחמה (שונןת משלו) אבל אני לא מתיימר לגעת מה יקרה, ולא ולא נראה לי שהוא שמר שפיר, טייס דגול ככל שיהיה, יודע או מבין יותר ממני.

לצערי תא"ל ישראל שפיר אינו מכיר את הפסיכולוגיה שמנחה את השלטון הרוסי (סילובקי). אם היה מכיר את צורת החשיבה שלהם אני חושב שמסקנותיו היו אחרות לגמרי. בכל מקרה אלכס, ישר כוח, התוכניות שלך מרתקות ואתה אחד היחידים שיודע גם להקשיב ולשאול את השאלות הנכונות ובזמן הנכון. רב תודות.

מבחינת רוסיה אפשר להקפיא את המצב(לכן כדאי להם לבצר את מה שהושג).עתה רוסיה יכולה לבנות את הכלכלה והחברה בגבול החדש.אם המערב רוצה אפשר מבחינת רוסיה לחדש את המלחמה בעתיד כשלרוסיה זה יהיה נוח

He means well but he talks in very broad strokes , He also doesn't seem to recognize the ongoing nature of the russia Ukraine conflict which actually started around 2014 ? Russia allegedly has an interest in preventing NATO expansion into the region (I'd argue that they've accomplished the opposite with Finland and Sweden signing on as well as more willingness to support the exiled opposition in Belarus. ) Also I don't know that Ukraine trusts Russia to really stop long term. So I understand the desire to end the conflict but if it was really that simple it would have happened already.

Nato is expanding - is good. Russia is expanding - is bad. Don't mix it up. Otherwise, you will say somewhere that "The expansion of Russia is good, but the expansion of NATO is bad" - everyone will laugh at you

Depressing. Sounds like a student reading his first oral dessertation about a topic he was introduced to merely a couple of days ago. We Israelis talk much (since Oct. 7th) about "our military and political elites locked in cycles of "CONCEPTIONS" ("HaKonsepzia" if you listed to talks.... how it is said) but I am afraid the level of discussion is not informed enough to even get to a stage where you develop a "concept". Its just clusters of big words and superlatives meaning nothing. Anybody in Israel who follows the Ukraine / Russia conflict since 2014, not even speaking Russian or Ukranian, would shake his head in astonishment understanding how uninformed this 10 mins talk is.
