Idealistic film maker creates art/alt movies that will have a small audience. It will not be appreciated then and will need other cine connoisseurs to break it down for the masses for them to appreciate. Even now I don't know why Monalisa is great except they keep saying so. Pragmatic filmmaker do justice to their vision and be sensible to the mass audience creating a beautiful balance and become successful in taking their intention and purpose to the audience and entertain them as well to create success for everyone involved. Populist filmmaker caters only to the vanity and will have short term success. They get into a template movie making and will be replaced by another filmmaker with a better template that caters more to the vanity. This is for the big segment which don't want to be made to think by the cinema but need simple relaxation. We have audience for all of these categories. The social segments determine which type of cinema is more prevalent. Our society has enough of all these segments. We have more middle class now and so we want more Pragmatic movies. Few decades back the segment below poverty line was bigger and so vanity movies were more.
