On the 19th of February 2021 the 141.6-metre Nord (previously Project Opus) left the Lürssen shipyard and began her maiden voyage.
This video summarises the build of the yacht. Enjoy!

In ungefähr 10 Jahren werde ich mir eine wunderschöne große Jacht von euch bauen lassen und diese Jacht werde ich KOUROSH-E BOZORG nennen. Sie soll von innen und außen an die Acheameniden Dynastie Persiens/Irans erinnern, natürlich gepaart mit den Modernen Design in 10 Jahren. Ich freue mich sehr auf dieses Projekt.

It’s no longer a yacht, but a small Cruise Ship. Exclusive to corporate ownership and charter. Frankly, Marinas, Clubs and Ports are increasingly enforcing pleasure boat size restrictions especially in the Bahamas.

They're not "restrictions", it's just there's so few of these boats they don't build many of them, and they're super expensive to maintain as they occupy so much space, while only catering to a few dozen boats in the entire world. The reality is, if you're willing to write cheques big enough, they'll find room for you

That's why I had three shadow boats built solely for that purpose. No worries, my guests get looked after well. Just want to make sure their helicopters ain't on board when I decide to make an entrance... can't have the RiffRaff block my space ;-)

Well, if your taking Russian then I’d imagine corruption crime and kissing the right people, when communism fell a lot of, certain characters, suddenly found themselves able to make a fortune.. other folk include Steve Jobs who had a mega yacht on order before he died and so his family have it, Jeff Bezos who has bought one as big as Nord, possibly to help get over his divorce, Bill Gates and so on.

Yeap, they also cost a fortune, as in millions, a year to run them. A super car collection is bargain next to a mega yacht. Even a private jet is cheaper.

Considering most of these owners want to keep their privacy, it's not called flaunting. They can afford it with their personal money, let them. They end up employing a good-size crew and help keep others working. The world gets wealthier every year; that's why automobiles are no longer reserved for the wealthy.
