You said that in rotational motion center of mass does not move so according to your statement a body can not execute rotational motion about an axis on which center of mass does not lie? But it's not TRUE If I am wrong then please correct it

The rotation of the ring..which is hollow from the inside and its axis of rotation lies in the centre when the whole ring rotates..here the axis of rotation is not through a body..but its fixed

The rotation of the ring whose Center of mass is outside the ring at the center and it doesn't move..in which case the axis of rotation passes through the Center of the ring lying outside...
