thanks for sharing your experience. when I was 24 I herniated both degenerative l4/l5 l5/s1. little back pain but killer sciatica and no relief after a year of conservative therapies. after two less than stellar discectomies that helped a reasonable amount with leg pain but saw my back pain rocket, I managed to get a bit of relief from working hard on my "anterior pelvic tilt" (I had this from decades of sitting a desk as a programmer - the guy beside me in the specialist waiting room was a long haul truck driver i.e. tons of sitting too interestingly). so to date ive avoided a fusion or adr but wouldn't be surprised if its in my future, and find it useful hearing peoples experiences. also found exploring a non inflammatory diet helpful with the remaining back pain ive experienced as well.

I had cervical surgery then found out I have AS as well. Lower back issues now, L5 S1 . Best of luck to you. I’ve tried most of the meds. Had lots of side effects from them, from the dmards and went to biologics. Then I started having tingling, pins and needles which now I contribute to the dif meds. I was even having infusions monthly. Had a flare and got steroids shot in my butt and never felt better. Told my rheumatologist and now I take methyprednisolone every other day and pain meds but am working to find other relief with nerve ablation for lower back, I’m horrible at taking meds. If what they give you doesn’t work, ask to try different med. chronic pain is hard to live with. Sounds like you are moving around more than I can at the moment. Good Luck to you and stay positive!

I'm so sorry about what you've gone through. I started with hashimoto hypothyroidism. My first ai disease. 20 years later I have pretty much every other ai disease. Not serious enough to kill me. But just enough to make me miserable, lol. Everyone says I look fine. So annoying to deal with these invisible diseases. Nice to know I'm not alone. Thanks for sharing. Stay strong 💪🏻

I am sorry to hear about the AS. I also am HLA-B27 positive. I had a workup for AS before my disc fully herniated. So I did a lot of research on it. I am glad I haven't been diagnosed with it yet. I am hoping to get ADR this year, so I appreciate your videos. It's probably a good thing you got the surgery before the diagnosis...I think it's a contraindication to ADR. Best wishes to you.

Hey man. Been following your vlogs for a while. Thank you for sharing all this, really helpful to everyone out there. Sorry to hear about the AS but glad you're doing better. Love the attitude. Just wondering, after your ADR, are you able to return to sports/running and all normal activities without nerve pain (if we weren't considering the upper back pain from AS).

Buddy upper back tightness means that the ligaments that are supporting your spine are weak. And that's why your muscles are getting tight to support your spine.

I was diagnosed with ms about 2 years ago, and I am scheduled for l4 l5 laminectomy in a few weeks. My surgeon says he does not know if my walking issues are caused by ms or my herniated disc, but I told him I would like to try the surgery.

I would definitely consult Dr Desai and maybe one or two other Euro doctors , they are what , 12 to 15yrs ahead of US doctors in regards to spine surgery (that's why you went there) maybe they are advanced in other spine conditions / problems as well such as your situation..............At least for expert second / third opinions. I admire your determination and will to fight through the hardships to find the light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you for sharing, I think I'm not alone when I say your videos help and inspire many suffering with the same issues out there. I have one question, in terms of staying active, what kind of activities are you able to perform at the gym? Can you run/jog, bench press, squat. Besides that, are you able to swim, play bball, soccer etc. Can you sit at a desk with manageable pain. Any info would be great!

You kind of left out the topic of your ADR. Was it helpful? With your diagnosis do you feel that surgery was necessary? Was it it AS causing the pain this whole time ? What’s your mobility like at the levels where you had the surgery?

Sorry to hear that bro. I just got mine L4-L5 with Dr. Georgiy V Brusovanik in Miiami and it’s being a total success. I dealt with pain for 8-10 years after a fall. Don’t give up- surgeries go wrong sometimes- get a second opinion. Try Dr. Georgiy V Brusovanik. I found him after 8-10 years of everyone tell long me “you just going to have to learn to live with pain” etc. Maybe I should post my story on KZfaq but we will see. God Bless

Really sorry to hear of your AS diagnosis, but I’m glad to hear there are legitimate treatments around now. As a young active guy looking at ADR one day for a slowly degenerating L5-S1 disc, I gotta ask, how’s your low-back / legs doing with the discs? I get sciatic pain off and on and dang it’s tough..

I had to have both SIJs fused and have bad discs. Doctors said I dont have AS, but I heard up to 10 to 20% of AS have a negative HLA-B27. I have the same tightness throughout the entire spine.

i read good things about the carnivore diet for autoimmune disorders. that might be something that could help you. keep on keepin on bro ✊

thx for posting. sorry about your problems. i pray u get well. have u try checking for periprosthetic osteolysis. i put up a research paper i found on adr facebook page. most adrs produce some ware debris, however small. that still cause biologic response resulting in similar symptoms.

Hey man had disc replacement 4 months ago. Was doing well but now I have some crazy back pain, I’ve done X-rays and scans everything looks good. Not sure if this is part of the process. How was your pain 4 months out?

Bro! I had autoimmune disease and upper back tightness when my lower Back herniated. I’ve fixed both issues... let me help! For AUtoimmune disease get an Alcat test from your doctor, it’s tells you what foods your body is attacking and what foods it doesn’t. Eat the foods that don’t. Your gut may be damaged and needs time to heal. For upper back, go to a good PHysical therapist for a couple months 3 times a week and you should see good results. Also, drink almond milk instead of milk. Milk and wheat were very bad for me...
