Check out Jordan's video here: • I Made My Competition ...
Attacking the Back Part 1: • Overhook vs Underhook ...
Jordan Teaches Jiu Jitsu is the fastest growing BJJ KZfaq channel and for good reason. Jordan's video quality is second to none and he has extremely good jiu jitsu both gi and no gi. Some of his most popular videos are when he takes on opponents much bigger than himself. One of the reasons we sign up for jiu jitsu is the mystic ability to beat bigger opponents. In this video we analyze Jordan's match with a 10th Planet Beast named Cesar and discuss what I believe is the secret to beat bigger opponents.

You mentioned that a good way of chaining wrestling is going single leg -> body lock. Joseph Breza (ex wrestler, wrestling coach) made a video on how that is a bad idea against good wrestlers because it opens up for an uchi mata counter, and gave examples using plenty of adcc matches. It's a really solid video, the name is: ADCC 2022 follow up: analysis of the defense from the side bodylock #31 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jrSEjdKLz7LRZ4k.html It's actually a series of videos, but that one breaking down adcc matches is the most important one I think

you should read Placido's comment on Joseph's video "The Danaher “Cheeto-fingered Keyboard Warrior Fan Club”
@froggy3496
@froggy3496 Жыл бұрын
@@kghkfyxk i did see it. However if you look at the video breaking down adcc matches you'll see that New wave guys were using uchi mata to counter side body locks, which is exactly what Joseph was criticizing. I think they had a misunderstanding bc Joseph was calling out the random people on reddit and Placido thought he was talking shit about danaher. At the end of the day New wave guys were doing the exact same defense Joseph said high level wrestlers would do.

It’s not the “bodylock” that’s an issue per se, it’s the “side bodylock” that is the problem-especially when he has a whizzer. There are ways to use it effectively, but I haven’t seen that (yet, it will happen) in BJJ. You’re vulnerable to more than just uchi mata, from a crappy side bodylock. Uchi mata is just a very standard use of the whizzer (in wrestling-they don’t use the Japanese name), and is more defensive than offensive. It can be offensive, but nobody in BJJ is controlling the far arm, which is what’s needed to bounce him iff his back. It is very standard in high level wrestling and judo to use a sagging headlock (typically before they get their hips too close), hari goshi, inside trip, or makikomi (if they get behind you. Those are all highly effective throws from a side bodylock position that will put you in a dominant position on the mat and, when done correctly, they hurt like hell. I know…yeah yeah “he’s gonna get your back on the mat.” Not if you know how to wedge and you ought to be aware of those counters. I headlock people all the time in BJJ and I don’t get my back taken. For one, I am not nice about it, and I am used to dealing with wrestlers who are slippery and absolutely freak out ahen you out them in kesa getame. You got to go down without a fight from the standing position if he gets to the side bodylock position. If you did nothing, he would already be behind you from the standing position, so you’re doing what you can (the aforementioned counters) to not let that happen. Speaking of which, notice how hard of a time people have mat returning someone even if they get to the back. Proper mat returns are something that really needs to be taught, as it can be a colossal waste of energy, and if you don’t get to the side to lift, you’ll get knee barr’ed like we just saw. You’ve got to pick a side and lift with your hips-the standard way in collegiate wrestling. I have videos on this, and Cayden Henschel is really great at it. The way to stop the uchi mata is to simply drop back down to the single…the one you abandoned in the first place. This coming to the side bodylock is a new trend in BJJ and I gather it will eventually die out when people see it doesn’t result in a high percentage finish. Look here and in many other places, including D1, and you will see the percentages of taking someone from a standing position to a position of control on the mat works best when you take away their legs. Wrap them up and climb up slowly. This is because humans are strongest from the waist to the knees. This is a fundamental concept I learned while wrestling D1, and international Freestyle, and Greco under Andy Seras and Brian Reardon. Reardon was my head coach and Seras was the assistant at the time, because he was head coach of the World team. He ended up becoming Head coach of the Olympic team as well. Seras’ system was to ALWAYS step between the legs when you have a bodylock. If he uses his whizzer to pull you off the legs to the waist, you step in the middle-NOT THE SIDE. Stepping in the middle takes away the sagging headlock, uchi mata, makikomi, and inside trip. I have numerous videos on this and they were before ADCC-I learned that system over 23 years ago, and Seras used it in the 1988 Olympics as a competitor. So, while the concept is new to BJJ, it’s certainly not a new concept-controlling the inside position with the thigh. It’s important that people understand there’s nothing wrong with critiquing technique with logic, reason, and proof of principle. That’s all. I’m just a guy with 31 years of experience in wrestling, judo, and Jiu Jitsu exchanging knowledge from a free country, lol. I will always tell the truth regarding the principles. I am not in this for the money. I never have been. When I started coaching 23 years ago, Andy Seras told me to “spread the knowledge” and that is exactly what I am doing; regardless if it causes hurt feelings, lol. Remember that most of us grapple for the love of knowledge and wellbeing. So remember to have fun. You’re allowed to ask questions. No one person has all the answers to all questions in grappling.

I think that the butterfly half is week to bodylocks due to it not creating a barrier between your hips and the opponents body. The only way you can create distance then is to kick out with your hook but if your heel is glued to your butt you won't have any power and if your opponent control the inside hip angle with their armpit you'll never be able to bring back your knee. The fact that it is only a half butterfly then seals your fate because you are already to a hip (which would be the secondary goal if you entered bodylock against a full butterfly) so your secondary knee is already beaten (not across the near hip). Anyway that's what I can think of off the top of my head.
