The hustle and bustle of La Ramblas, infinite fresh produce ranging from fresh fruit and vegetables, nuts & dry fruits, spices, wine, unimaginable varieties of sweets, cheese, olives, sea food of dreams with fresh catches of the day straight from the ocean, the best of Spanish ham - Jamon and various other meats, tapas bars serving delicious food and so much more.

Do you know that La Boqueria Market was awarded the Best Market in the World in 2005?
Millions of people visit this market every year and today, I’m going to show you what makes La Boqueria Market so fabulous.
Most of the stalls are run by 4th or 5th generation family members. Along with them now are also young entrepreneurs who have come together and made something truly special.
The origins of the Boqueria date back to the 12th century, when travelling salesmen and peasants set up shop in front of one of the gates of the old city wall to sell their wares.
This emblematic spot in the city was once the patio of Sant Josep Church. It was inaugurated in 1836. Initially the market was open-air, with travelling sellers' and farmers' stalls, selling their goods directly to the public and was eventually covered and made into an indoor market in 1914.
The exterior of La Boqueria is a metallic/glass structure, a good representation of the modernist architecture of the time. The inside however is most interesting, making this market, famous for the quality and diversity of products on sale from all over the world, a place well worth visiting.
The best way to feel its special atmosphere is to stroll around the stalls, have some fresh fruit juices and sweet treats, pop into its bars and restaurants to enjoy the whole experience.
Restaurants we ate at -
El Quim de La Boqueria has delicious fried eggs with baby squid but my favourite is the mushroom, caramelised onions, fried egg and Foie gras. It’s incredible!
Chickpeas with morcilla (blood sausage), squid with beans, mushroom scrambled eggs at Bar Pinotxo are some of the many delicious dishes they have.
Direkte is a lovely little place serving Japanese inspired tasting menus. Well worth it!
