I completely agree, better than old recordings of barrios himself, better interpretation and lack of very subtle minor mistakes vidovic and john williams make. no one can hold a candle to this performance.

Actually I have never heard anybody els to have this dynamic range and sublime control over tempo in this piece as Denis, and I own several hundred of recordings and have heard countless youtube recordings.

@@sargijapunk Yes, despite the fact that he plays it faster than most other performances I've seen, he still has such mastery of tone, tempo, volume and balance between melody and harmony. Moreso than many who play this piece slower. I do think it's a tad bit too fast but I still I love this performance

Not only is this a brilliant interpretation, but he's an incredibly kind person. I had a lesson a year and a half before my audition at CCPA and he did it for free. He invited us to come to his house for the lesson, and when we arrived he came to the door in gym shorts and a white shirt. He was wonderful, and I got so much out of the one hour lesson we had. He even called us after we returned home to talk about my options. For someone so talented, it's a miracle he's as down-to-earth as he is.

And may i add that the people in charge of sound and recording did an incredible job. It makes a huge difference when you can hear the guitar clearly resonate im all its glory and projection. It is rare to find such a great recording quality

I'm a classical guitarist and have watched this video multiple times as I am currently learning this piece to add to my repertoire, but this guy is the best I've found on youtube as to how this piece is meant to be played. He is a real craftsman of the guitar! So perfect, I hope to one day reach even close to this level.. For now I will just listen and enjoy the beautiful music played by a real master :)

I am 15 right now and I played Julia Florida by Mangore a few years ago. I put down the classical guitar for a couple years and now I am learning this piece. It inspired me to continue playing classical guitar. I didn't realize how much I missed it until now :)

Totally agree, in all KZfaq and live performances I've been, I have not encountered such a masterful interpretation. This master of the art plays it the way it's mean to be played, or even better, I'd summon a specialist to judge that.

As an amateur classical guitarist (see my channel) I've probably watched this 100x. This performance is masterful and as close to perfection as can be achieved. A monumental effort; I don't know why it hasn't been viewed millions of times.

Slow doesnt necessarily mean melancolic, and fast doesnt necessarily mean Happy. The prelude is played astoundingly. He managed to show the motions of the piece without playing it slowly. I prefer this interpretation.Since there are great jumps of distance betwen notes, playing it slowly would kill it.

I met Denis at one of his concerts in Reno, NV about 10 years ago. I was a guitar student in my undergraduate program then and he was really nice and gave me tips about how he does his nails, etc. I was impressed with his performance and down to earth personality.

Leviathan Cerebrate Personally, I disagree. I heard Nicholas, and he is fabulous. But I felt that Denis had used much more power and dynamics, especially in the last movement. But that's just my opinion. At the end of the day, humanity has given us wonderful guitarists that can please all of our ears :D
