The actual puppeteer in the costume was Frank Oz and he hated every minute of being in that heavy costume, unable to see where he was going or hear anything.

@@timepoet77, yeah, Frank Oz hated performing full-bodied Muppet characters. They also gave him fallen arches. After performing this dragon, Splurge (the big bluish-purple monster in "Hey Cinderella") and Thig (the big green monster in "The Great Santa Claus Switch"), he stayed away from full-bodied Muppets.

That sounds like the dragon being clumsy was supposed to be the joke. Especially if you saw the "Boy Scout" ad where one of the gags was the dragon's tail was causing towers of cans to knock over.

Grew up in 1970’s small town Kansas; my mom bought La Choy all the time- I hated it! Wasn’t until late 70’s/early 80’s I actually ate “Chinese” food (and didn’t learn until the 1990’s this stuff wasn’t even real Chinese!)
