ALF follows the adventures of Gordon Shumway, a furry, wise-cracking alien from the planet Melmac who crash lands into the garage of the Tanner family. The Tanners offer him a home and give him the nickname ALF, short for “Alien Life Form.” Created by Tom Patchett (The Carol Burnett Show) and Paul Fusco (who also performed as ALF), the half-hour sitcom rose to popularity in the late 1980s, cementing itself in the pop culture zeitgeist.

I love how 80s TV wasn’t afraid to occasionally scare you to death, lol. And often with such minimal yet clever effects and camera angles. Not to mention unsettling music.

When I was a child I once had a talking Teddy Ruxpin doll that was literally possessed. BTW this was many years before I even knew who Chucky was. Be aware that I no longer have that talking Teddy Ruxpin doll that was literally possessed. A friend of mine was there when he witnessed it threatening to kill us both too. notsyzagts7967 that is why my friend and I got rid of the talking Teddy Ruxpin doll that was literally possessed by tying it up with locks and chains and then we buried it deep in the ground that was far away from my home.

Willie fighting his coat sleeve is like me racing to work in the mornings hahaha he may have not liked his role in this series but he’s such a huge part of what made this show amazing! RIP Max Wright

I agree with you. Alf actually brought out the best in the Willie character, and made him more endearing. Max Wright was great in this role, and really showed his talent.

Facts. He was the perfect straight man, with greatly timed retorts to ALF's antics, and who could also get hilariously erratic. He said ALF had all the great lines, but his lines are just as important. Without him, the bounce back and forth wouldn't be as funny.

"Alright go... first Kate and the kids, now you... I feel like the pretty little virgin" I don't know why but for some reason that part got me good that I just can't keep a straight face about knowing that sometimes that line right there almost sounds like a typical fantasy cliche for wayward princesses/maidens from all kinds of stories both in literature and cinema of which I can vaguely understand myself

I remember that episode of Alf from my childhood in the late 80s. It's just funny memories, but I was still scared of the cockroach that almost killed Alf. Alf is one of the best shows running back then.

The irony is that FRANKLIN DELANO ROOSEVELT had a lot of bodyguards when he said that so yeah. Gordon Shumway formerly known as ALF was right. I wish I could meet ALF because I would share my Slim Jim snacks with him as he told me stories of his life and those he loved on Melmac before it exploded and during his time after before he landed on Earth and those he loved here on Earth because it would be a good way for us to get to know each other because I would tell him about myself and about those I love on the earth and about the one who created it too so Gordon Shumway formerly known as ALF can know more about me and the LORD God in heaven as well.

Did you know that the writer of this episode, one Jerry Stahl, was a drug addict at the time. A severe addiction to heroin and coke. He came in one day super high and pitched the idea of A GIANT SPACE COCKROACH THAT SEND ALF INTO THERAPY! At 1st the producer thought he was nuts but then realized "Hey, that could work"! When the writer asked how long the script should be they jokingly said "Oh... 90, 95 pages". The writer then went home, did an obnoxious amount of drugs and wrote a 100 page episode. When he brought it in they were shocked! I mean a normal episode is about 45 pages lol! 😂 So the writer had to go back and cut out half. He had written about alf's fear of bugs and how he had to get therapy and everything. To bad it all got cut out. This is one of my favorite episodes of the show. Also, ALF remains one of my favorites series. Too bad they don´t make shows like this one. However, i hoped they hadn´t edited the episodes because this one misses some small scenes. It may not see much, but too me the episodes of this show are better as they where when they passed on TV: complete and unedited.

Wrong. I’ve seen the 24 minute raw version of this episode. When alf says “Ofcouse it does, it’s a roach” Lynn says, “Alf, Roaches don’t have blues eyes they have, I don’t know”.

Another part that was heavily edited was the part with the exterminator asking is it a pet? There’s only one roach?, willie saying it’s a special roach, Alf saying “did you warn him?” And my favorite “Oh, I’m sorry I left my heat seeking missile in the car”.

In this episode Willie questions Alf when he names the cockroach after his brother "Rodney" however in another episode Willie's brother visits and has the name of Neil. However in yet another episode Willie makes it clear that his father only had two sons so therefore he can't have two different brothers.
