Yo tambien miraba todos los juegos de los DODGERS me hice fNatico del Baseball gracias FERNANDO VALENZUELA,habia veces qno televisaban los juegos de los Dodgers,y lo escuchaba por la Radio ,la Fernandomania,lavivi ,en cada estadio q los Dodgers se presentaban,Y Pitchaba Fernando,se llenaban..Viva Fernando,DIOS LE DE LARGA VIDA,Y NO NECESITA ESTAR EN EL SALON DE LA FAMA,ya esta ,con el cariño y admiracion de todos los que Amamos el Baseball y a los Dodgers..

Ruben Saucedo : all those teams were born and belong to other cities and the greedy owners sell themselves to the best buyer like whores, why not mention when “your Dodgers” evicted those few thousands of low income extremely poor disadvantaged Mexicans and chicanos families if you will, were evicted out of Chavez ravine, a piece of real estate that nobody would possibly want to buy, but was home to those families, and they were literally evicted because they got next to nothing when those bulldozers came rolling in, nobody came to their aid, those low income citizens meant nothing to the Los Angeles city council, county supervisors and that Coward mayor Tom Bradley, I think, yep that’s the memory some of us old folks have of you “LA Dodgers” sad.

Shame on the City of Los Angeles if they displaced and didn't compensate the citizens of Chavez Ravine who were forced to move so a Stadium could be built. However I don't see where that has anything to do with anybody who chooses now to be a Dodger fan. …...and certainly what does it have to do with Fernandomania which was a Godsend to every Latino citizen in the city of Los Angeles?

Ruben Saucedo : absolutely, I agree to some degree, because of the freedoms that the constitution gives you to choose, i thought I mention this when you mention “community unity” and Fernando has nothing to do with this, he could of landed in any other team and do just as well, I don’t know how old you are, but we Mexicans (they called us Hispanics and they correct, but I’m Mexican first) or Mexican American , in the eyes of some people I will always be a Mexican regardless where I’m born, I’m not going to go on with the injustices this community has endure throughout the years. Is not bitter es, let’s have some pride and not let that happen again, it’s a sore and a tragedy that LA County wants to bury forever. A lot of those folks evicted never recuperated , Ruben is good to know about this when some Anglo try to tell you about Dodger Stadium. Sports are good for kids, but stay focus in the most important things, like family, and teach children the value of Education so they don’t end up in a gang or making minimum wage at some Amazon warehouse forever.Blessings

I had heard of the battle for Chavez Ravine and know that there are still people that were diplaced back then and are still living still are resentfull of how it happened. I have no doubt my Mexican brothers and sisters back in that day weren't treated with the proper respect they deserved. Its like us Mexican's were 2nd class citizens that could be bought off for pennies on the dollar. I would hope that times have progressed from back in those days. There is still a ways to go I'm sure, but ask yourself this, does the Mexican voice in Los Angeles weigh more than it did back in the day? I think there are Latino people in government positions in the City of Los Angeles that fight for us, not enough of that was present back during that time in the late 50's when citizens of Chavez Ravine were being run out of their homes. Remberto my friend, I can only offer you this. Holding a grudge for so long isn't good for the soul. Good is to pass along your experience like you just did to me by bringing up the subject. I looked at a couple of videos in this very same KZfaq and learned of the last family to hold out and the battle they put up when they got run out. Seeing the look on their faces put a hurt right in my gut. We didn't have any raza in city government to make a stand for us. To make the process of moving on to another neighborhood easier for the folks of Chavez Ravine. To a large extent times have changed and we now have better representation in our city government. You best believe that what the citizens of Chavez Ravine went through back then was not in vein. Nobody wants to get run out of the neighborhood that's dear to their heart, but in cases where it must be done for the betterment of the community, there is now a better system in place to compensate people who are forced to leave in such circumstance. No system is perfect in such cases, but you better believe that because of what happened in Chavez Ravine the City learned from. Never forget, but I'd hope for people still angry over Chavez Ravine would let go of the grudge and serve to educate the raza to how it was back then and to continue the fight so that how it is in the next 50 years will be better than it is today. Progress is important, and so to are the people that lived in Chavez Ravine, their memory is alive so that we continue the good fight! Saludos mi amigo Remberto!!!

I say a lot, The value of Education, it opens up new Horizons, I always used to tell my little nephews and their “homies” , stop dressing like that, stop fighting each other, stop joining gangs, don’t you see that’s the way they want to see us forever, Ruben I was harassed by the police constantly, just because I lived in a bad neighborhood (Ramona gardens) I managed to stay out of gangs and worked menial jobs, but everything came to pass, I managed to get a trade, I wanted to be a electrical engineer, but I didn’t have the funds, I did managed to raise four kids two of the decided to get a higher education BS at Dominguez hills, the other one Capoly Pomona, yes thing have changed, I talk to young people like this even if I don’t know them, I feel for them, I see a young Remberto struggling, with no help and Directions, by the way I’m 16 years older than you so I seen a thing or two, and you will too, hopefully all good. Well my friend is nice to text to people that have their on the ground, take care of yourself, as for me I’m home staying away from this virus, ya estoy bien ruco, stay safe you and your love ones. Difiero un poco de ti, Aunque Hugo Sánchez no hizo gran cosa en la Selección Nacional, hay que reconocer que es el mejor jugador de todos los tiempos de México, muy cerca está Rafa Márquez sin duda alguna. Del Box es Julio César Chávez aunque no te caiga bien, pero no es su persona es lo que hicieron en su deporte; también muy cierto Salvador Sánchez si lo hubiera fallecido muy joven, probablemente lo hubiera hecho, pero no fue así.
