La Longia ski slope in Val Gardena Dolomites: From the Seceda to Ortisei

The question is if the "La Longia" ski slope in Val Gardena Dolomites is 10.5 km long as officially declared or if it is shorter? We measured it with 2 smartwatches with GPS and well the results were both similar but totally different from the official numbers:
#1: 7.5 km
#2: 7.7 km
But we don't want to discuss the official length of this slope because, in the end, it is one that you can't miss if you are skiing the Dolomites. In this video, you can see the integral descent from the top of Seceda down to Ortisei.

First, thank you. Second, how how? They are children/young men, how can they be so relaxed at those speeds? I realize mom and dad must have been great teachers but nothing on that mountain was passing you guys. They are flying, not cutting anyone off, being respectful of other skiers and it looks like a walk in the park. And.....You are flying with a camera!!! Thanks so much, I love these videos! Bravo to the young men!!!

If you live in a place where every afternoon your kids after school can just go skiing by simply crossing the road I assure they will learn very well :)

Wdym relaxed at those speeds? Fast doesn't automatically mean tense. You only become tense when the slope is really hard to ski, for example if there are big humps on the slope, or if it's really icy. Generally speaking, being faster even makes you more relaxed as the resistance against which you move the skies becomes much smaller.

Compimenti a tutta la banda dei tre! Un super piano sequenza. Tutta la mitica La Longia senza mai fermarsi rimandendo sempre in gruppo con un semplice colpo d'occhio... e senza tagliare la strada a nessuno, non è da tutti. Ormai siete super affiatati. Avanti così! Una delle mie piste "storiche" preferite di Ortisei. Anche il Resciesa lì a finaco non è male ...e sopratutto ci va pochissima gente. ;)

Siamo scesi la parte bassa della Resciesa 2 volte finché non aprivano l'impianto Fermeda che era chiuso all'inizio per vento forte. La Resciesa me la ricordo piú le 2 volte che ho partecipato alla Gardenissima arrivando giú con le coscie che bruciavano che quasi quasi potevi friggere delle uova 😂

I've been watching/catching-up for over a year. Your kids are skiing Great. There is only edging -unless they are stivoting. I hope you all get to ski some quiet snow this winter; it always looks so dry there.

Actually snow conditions are perfect. Of course south facing slopes, or slopes high above on ridges have the wind problem that blows most of the snow away. That only means the snow sticks in the north facing slopes 😉 So it looks dry but in reality ... it isn't

Thank you for uploading your videos. In March, I'm planning to ski in Dolomites for 9 days after skiing in Les Trois Vallees for 6 days. Seceda will be my first stop to ski in Dolomites. I hope the snow in Dolomites will be still great at the end of this March.

Eine der schönsten Abfahrten überhaupt. Schon oft gefahren - leider meistens am Nachmittag, wenn die Piste nicht mehr so gut ist. Wenn wir in 4 Wochen wieder da sind, wollen wir die La Longia unbedingt auch mindestens einmal am Vormittag fahren - auch wenn man dann mit Wartezeiten an der Seceda Pendelbahn "belohnt" wird. Danke für das tolle Video!

Awesome, did this last Wednesday. What perfect timing. We also stopped by the Ustaria Posta for a wonderful lunch last Thursday. I quite enjoyed the Ladin dumplings. It was a bit of a walk from the piste, but worth it. Glad to see more videos.

@@UstariaPosta We did walk down along the road but went up the steep path back as we saw someone go that way. I suppose that is the shortcut. It definitely was quicker, but was tough with such a full belly.

Your videos were a lot of help familiarizing me with the area. They made my trip much better. Thanks so much for that. We did Sella Green, Sella Orange, Marmolada, La Longia, Lagazuoi, Edelweiss valley, skied to Cortina and back and did a trip to Santa Croce and back. Most of these ideas came from your videos. I am tired and happy now.

Your video is amazing. It seems that you are flying with the camera and this is whay it is so easy to see all the video. And the young boys are very good skiers...it contributes to the beauty of the film. All this makes us want to do the same slopes as you do. But this must be hard.

😉👍 Thanks Arnaud for the comment. Well we raised up here therefore in winter, as soon you are out of the cradle, you are on skis. If we would live at sea we would be good surfers probably ... but actually we can just stay over water 😂

@@UstariaPosta Anders! Durch die Scotoni Hütte und den Eisfällen.... und dann noch die Pferde.... Mich erinnert die La Longia eher an die Abfahrt vom Belvedere ins Val di Fassa.... Oder die Strecke von der Secada nach St. Christina. Ist halt nicht so lang... aber ähnlich.
