It was very tough to choose between this machine and my eventual choice the GS3 MP. I think this machine looks a million times better however the couple of small things like lack of digital temp gauge for the PID and inability to change preinfusion settings made me choose the GS3. Very happy with the GS3 MP and my EK43s at home. Great video and love the content!

Wait on!! Don't you brew lower temperatures for darker roasts because most of the oils and flavours are easier to extract and Higher temps for lighter roasts? This contradicts what everyone else has said 🤨

Thank you for the review. Nice video. I have a question and I hope you can help me here. Once the red light is on, then you want to change temperature, how would you know the temperature is reached to the desired degree? You mention it doesn’t take long to reach the temperature but how long do we need to wait? Is there any way to check without buying an expensive equipment? Changing cooler temperature for lighter roast will need to flush out the water in the boiler and how much should we flush? I appreciate if you can answer my questions. Thanks!
@retinaz2220
@retinaz2220 4 жыл бұрын
Jacky Siu it’s a small boiler, only a few hundred mL’s if I heard correctly. Simply running the hot water tap for 30 seconds should flush it.
@ArtistiCoffeeRoasters
@ArtistiCoffeeRoasters 4 жыл бұрын
Apologies for the slow reply Jacky! Thanks for your comment and glad to hear you liked the video :) If the machine is heating the red light will be flashing. The red light will be solid if it's up to temp. So, if you're increasing the temperature just wait until the red light stops flashing which shouldn't take too long at all. If you're dropping temp then you'd do as Retinaz said to run the hot tap and flush out the hot water. Then you'd allow it to reset to the desired temp which again will be when the red lights not flashing. Hope that makes sense and thanks again for your question!

@iBarista
@iBarista 3 жыл бұрын
Ahmad Iskandar Ahmed considering that the 155 espressos aren’t perfectly spread out during the day but you also have peak hours like 40 espressos an hour for two hours. Then no, you’ll need a commercial machine. Maybe even a 2 group machine. La Marzocco has a Linea Classic 1 group or two group machine that would me more suited far that situation. The linea mini could handle around 15 double espresso’s an hour.

I have mixed feelings about the Linea Mini. On one hand its a classic design and a solid LM machine that will last for years. On the other hand, I have an Expobar Dual Boiler. It has digital PID, rotary motor with plumb kit, both boilers are 1.5 litres so plenty steam power and stable brew temps (I find small boilers tend to drift in temp during extraction). All this and it's about half the price of the linea, with no real shortcuts in build quality. So to me the linea seems a bit expensive for what it is. Add to that the fact that cup clearance is utterly hopeless. Good luck trying to fit scales under a taller cup on one of these machines, theres just no way. They'd have been better to do what they do on the big version and have more clearance with the option of a cup riser for smaller drinks. I wan't to like this, and I'd love to consider why I might upgrade to it, but its too close in price to something like a Synesso one group, which has pressure profiling, more advanced paddle controls, shot timer, and a proper PID. It also looks a hundred times better.
@ArtistiCoffeeRoasters
@ArtistiCoffeeRoasters 4 жыл бұрын
This is great honest assessment. well done. i have the Mini at home and love it. there are build differences in these models you have compared that do effect the extraction chamber and coffee results overall. the only true way is to have a side by side challenge. if you ever get the opportunity it would be great to hear your results. the Mini has some mods on the way with a new PID controller and full App control. it will be interesting to see what we can play with.

Thats a lot of espresso, the steam won’t keep up, it’s only a 3lt boiler. If it’s purely Esprssso shots only, you could do it as split shots and get 3 shots on average per minute, if you had a peak period you would have a long wait as it’s only 1 head

I luv the look of this machine and have been thinking about buying it, but struggling to understand what it’s value point is compared to other home user dual boiler machines, it doesn’t appear to do anything better, and functionally speaking in design terms is somewhat inferior. I.e that cartridge refill for the water is nowhere near as good as a top front loader with large backlit water level gauge. Maybe I am missing something, that I can’t see. But aesthetically it’s very pleasing, very Italian. But so is Ferrari and their build quality does not match the Germans.
@ArtistiCoffeeRoasters
@ArtistiCoffeeRoasters 2 жыл бұрын
Interesting comment, having a water tank on the top can be an issue removing it if you have overhead cupboards in a kitchen, also over time the can warp due to bing next to a boiler, also you have to remove your cups to get access to the water and you could risk tipping water into the top of your coffee machine. Yes you have to remove the drip tray to get to the water tank, but usually that’s the same time you need to empty the drain and fill the water at the same time. Internal build quality is where you will see value, check out our video on the difference between the mini and gs3 from La Marzocco, we show the insides of the machines which use 💯 commercial parts. Hope this helps you

I just can't wrap my head around some of the design choices. It's a brutally expensive machine with large plastic-molded parts on its forehead. Plastic knobs and a plastic paddle, for god sakes. For the price, you'd think they'd include custom-made wood, steel, brass, aluminum, or other fancy material parts you can think of. To cheap out on primary controls on a $5k USD machine is a solid middle-finger to the customers. Imagine buying a 5k macbook pro with a molded-plastic top cover surrounding the Apple logo... Offensive choice for the price tag, isn't it? This is no different.
@ArtistiCoffeeRoasters
@ArtistiCoffeeRoasters 4 жыл бұрын
Snowman yes your right on the plastic, it takes a product to be released to allow others to bring the product to life with timber, and brass. This is a customisation that allows for an individual’s personality. There is so much out there for these machines ow that you can make it your own from a great baseline product

Sir, it’s so nice to read an opinion that differs from almost universal mania about Linea Mini or GS3. And a lion’s share goes, in my view, to La Marzocco’s able marketing department (same case is Nuova Simonelli/Victoria Arduino) whose people somehow persuaded - with generous support of many reviewers - only their machines are worthy of an investment. They build them in Italy, thay are made by hand, they are artisanal, they are of a respectable tradition. Who would have ever thought that? But same goes to most of Italian makers such as ECM (Rocket), Vibiemme, Elektra, Astoria and many many others. Steam wand is not insulated, you have to pay extra for plumbing kit, the PID is "by guess only" with no clear digits, reservoir is a two-step process instead just removing the cover and filling water in, plastic knobs and "paddle" for this price. Yes, I am biased (owning Rocket Giotto Evoluzione R) but there are brands, and not only Rocket, which bring along much better value for the price without "an Apple-like" culture of surcharges for things that should be part of basic package.
@javedmower4091
@javedmower4091 4 жыл бұрын
Zluty Zakaznik this is fair. The counter is that LM have an established presence within the industry as the providers of stable workhorses that smash out great coffee after coffee whilst taking maximum punishment. Add to this the fact that they have a great support network and parts are readily available along with technicians that know how to work on them. I know my GS3 will be able to last for my lifetime and that most likely LM parts will be available for it for a very very long tome to come and it makes the investment decision much more palatable. I upgraded from a similar machine to yours to my GS3 and have never ever looked back :)
