+TheBennychin There's real dubstep, circa 2004-2009, based and influenced by dub and 2-step. Then Rusko started experimenting and made brostep as a joke, Skrillex, Datsik & Excision liked the sounds and made a bunch of whiny wubs (Flux Pavilion jokes about those with his brostep parody track Bass Cannon) that people mistook for brostep--though Datsik and Excision did actually make some proper 140bpm tracks. So now we're talking about "oldschool" dubstep, "brostep" and "post-"dubstep just through the history of dubstep's evolution.
