Rob Blake did him dirty for a player that did so much for us
@mitsanut58694 ай бұрын
Yes, he did. I have my own view on Blake that I am not going to share here. This night was Quick's moment, and clearly he was very touched by it, judging by his body language. You could almost feel he still feels it's his club, his team he was robbed of. I remember that Kopitar was completely devastated by it, and it took him a while to recover. No hockey player will be on the top of his game his entire career, and it's even more valid with goalies because so many different factors influence their success, much more than with any other player. Quick had a downturn in numbers which was completely understandable - the team was in rebuild and Kings totally sucked in front of him for a few years. And Quick ended up paying the price for Blake's lack of maturity that he showed already as a player when he left Kings to get a shot at SC with Avalanche. I get the competitive nature of players - but it used to be that players stayed with their teams no matter what. And Quick was such a player that is hard to find these days anymore. That's why we see people still loving the guy because they know what I know, they think what I think and they feel what I feel. Jonathan was screwed ROYALLY by Blake. And don't get me started with the 3 for 1 trade. The man has no clue what he does to players and to his team. He will not bring SC back to LA. It will take somebody like Lombardi who loved his team, he loved each and every guy that played on that team. Blake doesn't. That's why he will always make bad decisions and that's why Kings won't become the top team under him. Your players are first and foremost human beings. You can't treat them like a number.

It's really a true testament to his impact when you see how he's received around the league. I saw LA Kings Quick jerseys in Vegas, when he was a Knight for the remainder of the trade season. And in New York, I see the LAK Quick jerseys in the stands, cheering on every save. You don't get that level of respect by being a mediocre goaltender. JQ is undoubtedly HHOF bound, his legacy is more than deserving. I don't think we'll ever see another G with his unmistakable "Spider" butterfly form for a long long time.

Yes in hindsight this chat is going to be the typical unknowing LA fan saying “we should have never traded him”. But that’s just not true. I hate that he is not a King anymore, and I’m not in love with the idea that he has had success since he left. But when he was traded he had been really far below average for almost a 2 year period. Is what it is.
@maxwelljohnson89724 ай бұрын
Quick was below average for about 6 months before he was traded. During the 2021-2022 season he was 7th in Goals saved above expected and was one of the reasons why we made the playoffs that year.
