I wish the machine used standard 58mm portafilters instead of 53mm that it has.

Have a Vivaldi s1 for many years and the 5mm difference is a non factor. Have also owned 58mm machines. I first became familiar with LS when a local italian restaurant had one albeit the commercial model but grouphead is identical. Have compared 58mm shots at coffee trade shows and I could not tell the difference. IMO this is akin to a small commercial machine and tons of steam. The only possible upgrade I might one day consider is pressure profiling. Apparently there is a EU company that makes an after market kit that does this.

I upgraded from a 53mm Breville Express to a 58mm Dual Boiler. The Breville Express produced an amazing espresso and was way more consistent and forgiving. At times, I wished I still had it. 58mm portafilters are much more susceptible to chanelling and more difficult to get right.

Agreed. Way more choices for accessories for 58mm.

It does limit your choices when buying accessories but the quality of the shot can be as good or better than with a 58mm machine. I much prefer the espresso I get with 53mm but I prefer smaller dose shots (15-18 grams) and 58mm would be a better choice if you like to dose really high.

From the hydraulic diagram the value (2 bar) is your water mains pressure, thats why you see it all the time. This pressure may pre-infuse for a few seconds then you see the pump pressure. This is not necessarily what the coffee puck is seeing as this shows the pressure of the pump pushing water through the system. I have fitted a gauge to the actual group and this shows the pressure ramping up as the pump starts. That said I have the older version without pre-infusion.

Could this possibly be used in a small volume cafe/truck?

IS there any advantage to spend the extra $500 to purchase the Dream T?
@majestycoffee

Thank you for your kind words and excited for you to start making some great espresso! Also, excellent question; in terms of differences, the major ones are the S1 Vivaldi II has a rotary pump whereas the Dream T has a vibratory. For some people this is a matter of preference, rotary is mostly used in commercial and vibratory in home use. The other differences being the Vivaldi must be plumbed in to a water source (external tank or water line) and the Dream has the reservoir built in. As well as the Dream is a totally updated with barista lights, touchscreen, and PID temperature control built in. So essentially they have very similar features, it’s mostly a matter of direct plumb vs water tank. Either way you get a fantastic machine with all of the best features a home machine can offer. Let us know what you decide and happy brewing!

Great review! Definitely one of the best high end bang for the buck machines. An E61 equivalent machine would cost significantly more. Only thing I don't like is the lack of clearance for a scale. I guess it would fit with a shot glass and naked portafilter, but definitely not a coffee mug

The workflow takes some getting used to but if you use a bottomless and a shot glass it’s definitely worth the extra effort! Thanks for watching.

I have been using the Mini Vivaldi II for years with a bottomless portafilter and there is plenty of room for a scale and a normal coffee cup or latte cup 😀

Great video! What is that noise during preinfusion an the shot?Sounds like hammering or knocking. Does it come from the machine or from a Flojet or something?

What I don't like about this machine is the limited distance between the portafilter and drip tray. There is no room to put a scale with a cup on top.

Is the steam lever from the Mini Vivaldi II interchangeable with the steam knob? Or does the newer Mini Vivaldi II have the same programable pre-infusion? Would love both features together :)

Can this unit run 24 double shot back to back with a single shot flush in between?
@vex123
@vex123 2 жыл бұрын
It's directly plumbed so don't see why not. Might have to wait a little in between for the temperature to stabilize again though.

This looks like a great home espresso machine but would you get this model or the newer one with LCD touch screen and why? Also considering La Marzocco Linea mini but that costs 3x as much.

I went with this vs the touchscreen one, I was thinking less things to go wrong while mastering espresso.

Looks a great machine, but not much room between the bottom of the portafilter and the drip tray. I really want to be able to put a scale under my cup ….

Bottomless portafilter is available for this machine that can give you some extra room

Use a bottomless portafilter. It takes a standard coffee mug and works perfectly. I've relegated my traditional two spout portafilter to having the backflushing blind basket permanently installed.

How reliable long term are these machines? I had problems with my Rocket Cellini espresso machine and after pump failed need new one. Rocket quality leaves much to be desired.

Would a Wi-Fi outlet adapter not work because of the type of power button?
@PaulLemars01
@PaulLemars01 2 жыл бұрын
I'm fairly certain that you can fit a blutooth receiver to the Vivaldi II. The La Spaziale Lucca A53 which is a Clive Coffee branded version of this machine comes with the adapter already installed. I can see it on my phone but I've not used it. Heat up times are really quick and I haven't felt the need to set a timer for my machine.

Is it the temperature control call PID sir?
@majestycoffee
@majestycoffee 2 жыл бұрын
Some of the other La Spaziale’s have PID, this is just a temperature adjustment. However, you can use the programmable offset differential to make sure the temperature coming out of the grouphead is exactly the same as the temperature on the control panel. So in essence you can still get very fine-tuned temperature control from this machine. Thanks for the question!

Is there any version of this machine that has both plumbed & reservoir options?

Unfortunately not but it’s pretty easy to add on a FloJet and 5 gallon water tank and still have it be mobile.

This is literally a classic espresso machine design. Not like the too shinny chrome models that have popped up everywhere.
