I have both in the mid height shoes. Both excellent shoes for light hikes or scrambles. TX4 is abit more flexible and light. Both are very comfortable you won’t be disappointed with either for anyone who gets them.

I tried both of these as last year's models. I ended up going with the Boulder X despite it slightly cramping my foot a bit more. While testing it on the indoor terrain ramp, it was far superior at using the bottom lip to secure a hold and after using them for a bit, they have stretched out enough to fit my wider foot comfortably yet snug.

A question on TX4 sizing, I see that you got EU47.5, which corresponds to 30.5cm in their sizing chart. Is that equal to your foot length or did you have to size up? Thanks!

Boulder X is a perfect example of why one shouldn't shop shoes online, without trying them. My usual size is 8,5 (GB), but the Boulder X, after trying them, I had to buy in size 9. For the first time in my life.

Thanks for the comparison. Interesting to see. I have just acquired a second pair of the TX4, having almost worn out my first pair. I was considering the Boulder X, but my use is mainly hiking, yours is different.

Is the TX4 a good shoe for long all day hikes with a lot of scrambling?

@@bilaltahir9978 It's more of a short(er) distance or approach type shoe. Both of these are approach type/light hikers. You might want to check out the Spires.. I just purchased some and can't wait to use them.

@@bilaltahir9978 Although I can't provide a straightforward answer to your question, I can offer my experience. I've had Boulder X for several years, and it has proven to be excellent for scrambling due to its protective and sticky nature. I've even used them during multi-day backpacking trips, and they have performed well for me. I did find the toebox to be slightly smaller than I would prefer. However, you can alleviate this to some extent by loosening the front lace. For your requirement, I would think Boulder X might be a btter option.

I have a similar experience as you. Boulder is narrow at the toe area and this was a problem for me. I exchanged them for XT4 (without GTX, no Gore-Tex) which are much more comfortable/wide at the front and they wear very good. In about 5 years, I had no problem with the laces, as they are combined with another strong rope keeping them in place. No issue with this. Sole is made of Vibram and wears out a little faster that I would expect.
