Most of the time it's because of the superior quality of cameras today that adjust for different skin hues. Back in the day they made cameras with only Caucasian skin tones in mind. If you notice in music videos in the 80s black entertainers who looked dark as hell in the early 80s suddenly look of medium brown tone in the mid-to-late 80s. Joe looks like he's has a nose job.
