Thank you to the little boy (I do not know his name) for being polite to his mother and letting her know where he would be. Also, for saying, "yes mam". Those two words will serve you well in life as you go forward. Yes mam and No mam.

I grew up in northern New York State. In the north when you used Yes Mam or No Mam, you were being a smart aleck and usually got reprimanded. When we moved to Texas for a few years, if you did NOT use Yes Mam or No Mam ( or Yes Sir... etc.) you got reprimanded. No wonder kids get confused. lol

Thank you for answering a burning question I have. I am 73 and I hadn’t canned in years and I picked it up again and was having a problem with hot water bathing. Every time I do it water leaks out into the pot and everything gets sticky and a mess not to mention the jars that the liquid leaks out of. I never covered my jars until now so now that I have been reminded of how I used to do it I will go back to my original way. The water below the tops. Thank you Ruth and god bless you and your family. I am so happy I found you. Thank you all.

Ruth Ann is my greatgrandmothers name. She put out the biggest garden I've ever seen. I have her garden gate here at my homestead. The blackberries are the most thrilling aspect on my spot here on God precious green earth. They grow wild all around the place. The briars tear my hands and heal my soul. I sing all the verses of Amazing Grace when I can remember them. Peppers grew well again this year. I'm old and can't use salt. I was hoping you had some ideas of fermenting without salt. Looks like this season was lacking in sunshine all across Indiana to Penn. Made for some late tomatoes. They weren't as overwhelming at that time. My name is Linda, hello.

Hot packing is when you cook and add hot to the jars before canning. Open kettle is where you put product in jars after cooking in the pan and let it seal after filling without further processing. What you did with your sauce is actually hot packing. Hope this helps.

I love listening to you and listening to your sweet voice and simply explained instructions. I just made pasta sauce and for the first time did not cover my jars with 1-2 inches of water. My stove was not covered in scalding water, and my jars started to seal before I took them from the pot. I'll never go back to covering my jars in water for water bath canning. She taught me a few things but I was a child so I’m now learning all over again. My momma taught me a lot as well but she too passed when I was young. So following you had been great! 3rd Thank you for showing your ways. Some people today are freaks over canning. You are a amazing woman. I admire so much the care you take for your family. That is the way it's suppose to be. You said you like to leave things on the vein till your ready. Do you have much bug pressure in your area? Here in texas it is horrible. A lot of times I have to pick earlier than I would want to avoid insect damage. God Bless you and your family. Please keep the videos coming. Your such a inspiration.

Beautiful produce. Maybe small garden was lovely this year also. Have Asian pears big as cantelope, taste amazing in pear butter and pear cobbler with what we call a doobie for 50 years. Just harvested pecans before squirrels ate 95% of. Love having adorable children around, but all grown up children here. Get all the hugs and loving before they leave these days. B

I would sure say the pruning and the heat worked in your favor!! How awesome to now have all that on your shelf. I only have 4 plants left and it worked some, but not quite like yours. I'm actually thinking of removing them and then taking all the tomatoes in the house to ripen like I've done in the past. The temperatures now are going to only be low 70's and lows in 50's overnight and a couple nights at 48. I know when it gets this cool, they definitely don't ripen.
